you cannot apply emotions, because you can't control them, emotion is a reaction program that has a goal and effect towards something, like if someone hurt you, you may react with anger to make him stop.
affirmations help you to change reaction towards something, by changing your sub-programming, for example you convince yourself that woman likes you, the result will be in projecting confidence.

Yes, you can control emotions. Emotions are triggered by meaning, not by situation.
So if I give you 1 milion bucks to spit to your face, and you agree to it - how will you feel if I spit to
your face?
But how would you feel if I spit to your face for no reason?
So it's not about the situation, it's about the meaning.
So if you change the MEANING of the situation, you'll change the emotion connected to it.
If you want to build your confidence, affirmations are not the place to start.
Instead, you start with your beliefs about yourself, your insecurities and the reason why you don't
have confidence.
Then you invoke that little power you have inside and you awaken it.
