May I suggest that you looked at your thoughts as mere thoughts and not yourself? At your looks as just looks and not YOUR looks?
About being rejected constantly, you have to watch your thoughts and your body, what is the issue causing your failures? Don't blame yourself. Blame your thoughts, blame your mind, blame something that is not you, because you don't know who you are and you don't even need to know.
"Eckhart Tolle's - A New Earth" would be a good read for anyone who wants to stop being afraid of "getting hurt" emotionally or egoically. Read it if you must.
What does that mean? What is an example of being conscious?
I can't understand why anyone would ignore their emotions. You protect your emotions and build them up stronger. Having strong emotions makes you strong.
I didn't say you should ignore your emotions. I simply said that if you become more conscious it causes less or no feeling of threat at all. You can still build up the emotions you want and handle the emotions you don't want.
It's actually easier to handle your inner being if you're more conscious.
