Interesting. Well, there are some rules PUA's use for AA to at least be reduced considerably, i'll name the ones on the top of my head:
1)3 Second Rule: You got 3 seconds from seing the girl, or the group you want to approach, to initiating the conversation with her/them.
2)Expecting nothing from the outcome: You should approach people for the solely purpose of having fun and practicing your social skills.
Approach Anxiety is never going away, it's a build-up mechanism in our brain, and it's done with purpose.
Good luck with it.
I try my best to stick to the 3 second rule, but its more like 5-6 seconds for me. As for basics, my approach anxiety is really crazy but I still have balls hidden behind all that nervousness, if I sincerely "decide" to talk to someone, I'll do it even if someone's holding me back and clinging to my legs.
I wanted to try those beginner 20 day routines to overcome approach anxiety, but they seemed way too slow for me, such as "talk to 5 girls and ask them for directions" then its the same for the next 3 days with only the amount of girls increasing and what you say slightly changing (like asking for an opinion + high five the next day).
