So I just recently decided to study PUA and thought that I should contribute to the community with my knowledge of fitness and diet.
Here's why your not losing fat and "gaining" at the same time. . . it's because you are eating foods that have been around for 0.01% of mankind's existence. Bi-pedal primates have been around for 6 million years. Modern day humans (Homo Sapiens) have been around for 200,000 years. Agriculture has been around for 10,000 years. Do you see yet where I'm going with this? We are not genetically designed to eat excess carbohydrates, especially in the form of wheat. It's just not how we evolved.
The human diet for almost our whole existence has been wild game meat, fish, wild nuts and seeds, eggs, animal fat, fruit, and wild veggies (particularly green leafy ones). Increased protein and fat intake is actually what allowed us to develop our large brains. Carbs should not be the primary source of energy, but fats. Of course this goes against the entire conventional medical and nutrition establishment, which is basically a gigantic business to profit off of your sickness.
"But I workout and am an athlete" you say, " if I don't eat carbs, I feel like crap! Stop talking about fats as energy, it's witchcraft!" Well, you need to realize something . . . our ancestors did not workout or exercise in a systematic fashion. They were active yes, however they never trained for a marathon or MMA bout. That being said, carbs on this diet have to be eaten very strategically. In other words, it's imperative that they are eaten only around workout time (pre and post, sometimes just one or the other depending on the individual). Acceptable forms would be fruit, sweet potato, squash, eggplant.
Gentleman, this all refereed to as the Paleolithic diet, and it's taking over the nutrion world by storm. There is increasing scientific evidence to suggest that this is indeed the ideal way to eat. By eating in this fashion, you will shred fat like a mother fucker and improve the tone and density of your muscles dramatically. Here are some great websites to get you started . . .
