Insulin spiking is useless because it does not have anabolic signaling in the natural range, this is why Insulin is classifed as an anabolic drug when taken by those who are not diabetic. But you should still eat carbs post workout, just not for the sole purpose of an insulin spike. But my god how damn ignorant it is to think your going to become diabetic after eating carbs, every time you eat anything insulin is released by the body to aid in the breakdown of glucose
First off you wont go diabetic if you get an insulin spike. Otis is right about that so don't worry. Just don't be eating sugary candies all day. An insulin spike after a workout wont give you diabetes.
Second according to the article you posted
"In conclusion, though carbohydrates are not anabolic, they do have a synergistic effect on muscle protein synthesis when combined with dietary protein post-workout."
So carbs aren't anabolic, but you should still use them pre and post workout.
nice article
