I'll just add that Beta Alanine is the shit. Find yourself a pure source of it (ie BA on its own with nothing else) and take less than 1g, ideally 6 times a day for the first month and 4 times a day after that.

To get all technical, it increases the amount of carnitine in your muscles, which buffer lactic acid. Takes about a week to start kicking in, with best results after a month.

The overall effect is that you don't get lactic acid burn when you're working hard. It gives you a huge boost in motivation, simply because working hard doesn't hurt anymore. It's generally used by top athletes in sports which last less than 30 minutes, although they get much smaller gains because they're used to pushing through pain.

I can't recommend it highly enough, especially for short intense cardio or circuit weight training.

Also, make sure if you're taking creatine that you consume it immediately after your workout with some simple sugars. Fruit juice is good, dextrose/maltodextrin mix is better. The sugars will increase the uptake of creatine, and they'll also speed up your recovery by regenerating muscle glycogen, which is basically your muscles sugar (ie energy) supply. Overall effect is you'll be able to work out more often with less muscle soreness.

Hope this helps.

First of all you need to nail your diet down,

If you insist on supplements I recommend:

OxyElito Pro (As a fat burner),
Jack3d (As a Pre Workout),
Kre Alkalyn (Creatine for muscle)

Please realise that supplements only work if you are doing everything else right. E.g. Eating right, gyming regularly and getting enough sleep. For the average person they are not needed and will only make about a 5% difference assuming everything is done right.

The only thing I take is WPI protein powder with low carbs and low fat. Why you ask?

Carbs and fat can easily be found in any foods whereas protein is more expensive.

I also take ZMA if i remember b4 bed. If you want to understand more PM me although i dont workout hardcore i learnt from the best.

@RVAIS

Im sorry man, but saying supplements are bunk is a lil ignorant... Im not tryin to pick on u, but tell me, what defines a supplement as you see it? As i understand it, a supplement is designed to SUPPLEMENT the benefits of a healthy diet and exercise regimen. Pre workout powders have numerous benefits for me like when i lift, they get me amped for the workout ahead, just to name one. Vitamins are pretty self-explanatory. Protein powders and post workouts supps are helpful too, i mean, good luck trying to get the same amount of aminos and other good stuff from plain ass food. Just sayin...

@superman

If ur looking to build muscle and go hard at the gym, like bodybuilding style, and assuming your a healthy dude with no medical conditions, i can recommend a variety of supplements for you. I take a scoop of celltech creatine about 2 hours before my workouts and another scoop after im done, 1 MR or nano vapor hardcore about 45 mins before i lift for the mental boost (careful, these will get you amped if u take even the recommended dosages-i personally only take half since im 140 lbs) and for postworkout, some elite xt is a solid, relatively cheap protein and masstech is good for bulking up. These give results for an experienced gym rat like me, but everyone has their personal preferences. Make sure u have a solid diet plan bro, cuz without that, ur wasting ur time. Any other questions, feel free

just take dbols if you want proper fast results, since its water retention take a test stack after that AND obviously once that is done, take a PCT

otherwise for the natural route, take protein 2-3 times daily. you should consume (over thumb rule) 1.5g of protein per KG of bodywheight per day. and take some BCAA's to prevent catabolic reaction and some casein before you go sleep

I've been working out with guys who compete in internatinal strongman competitions. One was even America's Strongest Man at one point (he live in Norway at the time).
He didn't take many supplements at all, just proteins, vitamins and some glucosamine for his joints. I say that these are the supplements I'd prioritize

1) Proteins
This is the most important supplement. Sure you can get proteins from food, but unless you're able to eat ALL THE TIME becoming a 250lbs ripped behemoth isn't going to happen (if that's what you want).
Protein shakes are an effective and easy way to make sure you get enough proteins.

2) Vitamins
Good for your health, that's why you buy it. Plain and simple. :)

3) Fish oils
Same as above. I prefer cod liver oil, but seal oil is supposed to be even better, I've heard.

4) Creatine
A lot of hype, but its true that you can get plenty of creatin from eating red meat. I got a good effect the first time I tried it, but now that I eat meat every day I can't say that it does much for me. Since creatine monohydrate is dirt cheap anyway, I take it when I'm in a heavy phase of my training.

5) Over-priced, BS with fancy labels
99% of the remaining products on the market is BS, IMO. The only exception is - of course - anabolic steroids, growth hormones etc. But then again, that's doping and not food supplements. :)
