Reading is a must.

Gym is a must.

I practice judo, which isn't as "necessary" to my lifestyle as the first two, but definitely a thinking-man's sport.

Great for mind, body, soul and confidence. I am going to give Salsa some practice in the new year.

Some intelligent activities I do that are very addicting and fun for me.

Magic: the Gathering - It's a tradign card game that has been around for a long time now. It is an extremely addictive fun game that requires a lot of thinking and informed choices. These choices effect the deck you are building, and once your deck is built, how you play with it. As with all card games luck is a factor but skill is waht will help you win. Some people might say that trading card games are for losers, but i really don't care, it's a fun activity and can keep you entertained for hours. The only downside is that it can get kind of expensive, but not much more than most hobbies.

Freerunning/Parkour - This is another activity I do, it's hard to describe so it would be best to simply look it up. Many might say that it is just a sport for daredevils and idiots but this simply isn't the case. Through the art you learn to quickly analyze situations to great detail, from judging distances better to knowing what materials are good for what. In addition to the mental benefits it's also a good form of exercise, and can actually come in handy.

Three things that I do (out of many) which might help you out:

1) something physically challenging: boxing, muay thai, bjj, mma, and weapons/tactical training for close quarter combat. - physical trainng in a novel situation will not only make you more intelligent and cultured, it will also build character and confidence through the roof. The best situation to be in is to know yourself so well that through every situation in life, you know who you are. That helps in all aspects, including in PUA activities.

2) Reading - I can only speak for myself here, but I've been reading a lot of physchology, NLP, blody language, and inspirational material as of late. This is probably the very best way to really boost your intelligence and become well informed.

3) Adventures - Ever find yourself handing my one arm off a ledge that drops down hundreds of feet? I have, and believe me, you learn VERY fast how to think in novel ways in a situation like that. That same wit you gain from that situation can also be gained by putting yourself smack into the middle of say....a dance competition (if you aren't usually into dancing). Basically, go out and have an adventure as often as you can. Life is too short and too long to not do so. You will learn to think in a variety of ways when you put yourself in new and uncomfortable situations. It keeps your brain alive and awake :)

Hope that helps.

magic is a good laugh, but its not exactly chat up material. i rekon the people here want hobbies so they sound interesting. wich identical guy do you reckon would get the girl if he says 'im bussy till friday. ive got judo, boxing, art class and my driving test'
vs the guys that says 'ive got magic on friday and dungeopns and dragons tomorow. but apart from that all i will be doing is running into walls at break neck speed'. kudos to you though. i always wanted to try freerunning. never had the balls.

Well to clear up one thing, I don;t play D&D, just because i do one "nerdy" activity doesn't mean that I enjoy them all. I have many activities that I enjoy, these are just two that I think help improve intelligence.

I think that it's a very bad trait fro one to be embarrassed about the things they enjoy. If someone is shallow enough to put someone aside for something they enjoy, especially something social and intelligent like a card game, they are too shallow for my liking anyway.

I think that having a wide range of interests is good, and if people disagree with some of them, well they don't have to partake in it.

Also, you don't have to talk about all the hobbies you do to everyone.

dont take it the wrong way, im probably the nerdyest guy here. theres nothing wrong with d&d or magic. just saying if thats the only thing you do you might want to add in some more mainstream conversation starters

Women dig guys that are passionate about something. Makes you desirable, driven and intelligence. Any hobby you know lots about as long as it's not too weird or creepy.

For example:
Alot of girls generally find me interesting when they find out I am a photographer and a regular gym/bodybuilding enthusiast. These are 2 different extremes of hobbies, photography you have to have a soft side to you while weight lifting you gotta be hard.

The verdict is if you have a passion, flaunt it.
