I am going to say that it won't hurt your chances if you LJBF her. Women are good about fucking guys that are "off limits". Men have different rules, I don't believe you will hurt your chances. I would just straight up tell her, "Hey, I think you're a great girl, but I would love to be your friend, but not your boyfriend." Wait for her to cry, and once she spreads the news back to all her girlfriends you are open game to all of them.
O.K. I hadn't considered that LJBF'ing her might not hurt my chances with her friends that much.
Another question along those lines. If I LJBF her, am I likely to be viewed as a jerk/asshole by her and her friends? This is also important to consider because next year, I will be social chair for my fraternity, so it will be my responsibility to schedule events such as the mixer I met this girl at. Also, she is going to be the treasurer for her sorority. It will make my job more difficult if this girl and/or her friends do not like me.
Anyways, in either case, I think that I am going to use this as an opportunity to broaden my horizons and start trying to introduce myself to and close with more girls that don't belong to this specific sorority. This whole situation has made me realize how pathetic it is that such a large portion of the girls I focus on are part of just one group.
