Seriously.
You have to make sure that he looks up to you. In that order he stays the leader of his pack, but you'll lead him.
A simple one I picked up online *forgot where* is to compliment him on something.
"Nice shoes, I used to have those too but then I found these... your toes don't hurt?"
It's like negging him. But as like a neg: stay friendly.
Don't look up to him, make sure you guys are OK and make sure you make him go "ooo" at something. Or at least make him look like a tool.

Disagree with him. If he says something he thinks and you don't agree, say that out loud, but back it up with a strong argument.

For me, it comes naturally. I rarely leave my home town and that might have something to do with it. Ever since I gained confidence and set up goals in life (about a year and a half ago) I have NEVER been put down from my Alpha status.
I'm sure that day will come, but when it does it won't bother me. It's not that big of a deal.
