I am having this serious problem or challenge (it sounds more positive, lol) - almost every morning when I wake up I feel like a crap (maybe not the right word but you get the point). It's like everything that I had yesterday: most of the confidence ,happiness and not giving a shit attitude fades away and I have to condition myself into feeling good over and over again.

Any ideas why is this happening? Anyone else is having this challenge? Any ideas how to fix it?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. I would suggest trying to do something physical if you really feel like crap. You could do some push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, whatever. It will get your blood flowing and release some endorphins into your system.

The other route is to read something that gets you thinking more positively. I am reading "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It's an excellent book, and helps me in the morning, when I feel a little overwhelmed at the day ahead of me.

Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for your advices

lol, I actually got The power of Now audiobook set the same day I opened this thread. Haven't tried it yet, but all the feedback people gave about it and some recent personal experiences made me realize how important it is to be in the Now, in the moment.

About the morning workout - I ride my home bike and do some push-ups every morning, and it really helps, but not as much as I want it to. My body feels more alive but I still subconsciously or consciously worry about stuff.

Any other ideas? :)

I hate mornings.

Supposedly, you have more cortisol in your system in the morning than at any other time of day. Cortisol is the nasty stress hormone that makes you feel crappy.

Not much you can do about this other than getting a good night's sleep and being generally healthy, as far as I know.

Ahhh, I knew there must be something biological involved in it. I'll just have to live with it.

Alright then, since it's pretty clear why we feel so crappy in the morning, please share your morning routines that help you to go through it :)

Drinking a good amount of water the night before helps. Part of the crappiness is dehydration when you wake up.

Caffeine BAD. Even if you manage to get to sleep, it's not very good sleep. Same goes for alcolol.

You can also try some physical activity in the morning. Go for a jog or punch a punching bag before you jump in the shower.

Lack of VD is probably a good thing. :)

Are you a natural extravert or a natural introvert? If being around people "recharges your batteries" so to speak, make it a point to meet up with friends or go somewhere to interact (school, work, coffee shop, gym).

Meditation helps some people sleep better.

All "VD" kidding aside, that is some sound advice. You can do some online sleuthing yourself on the subject. From what I've found, D is safe even in high doses and the FDA "recommended" amount isn't nearly enough for most adults.

Other than that, positive thinking can go a long way. Make it your "default" attitude. Bouts of feeling down won't be so bad and won't last as long.

haha, alcolol :D

But yeah, I usually don't feel to good about mornings, but that's just because I'm tired and usually want to sleep on.

Drinking Water and keeping decently hydrated through and through helps.

I haven't really had the problem with feeling truly bad in the mornings, except after heavy drinking, but blame dehydration.

It may also be stuff like diet etc.
Neurochemistry, to say the least.

I have no real knowledge about that sort of stuff, but you may try eating more vegetables or something. Having a balanced diet and such may help.

Caffeine is dehydrating, and
If you smoke as well, that may be a clue.

But seriously,
Being well hydrated, keeping a moderately balanced diet and maybe doing some light exercise in the morning to start up the system, in addition to a little food in the morning, may do the trick.

I usually do 20-30 push-ups when I get up, and then 20 more when I'm done eating breakfast.
Also, one more thing; if you when you wake up, lie on your stomach and bend your back upwards using without using your arms, that will usually lead to a more awake or refreshed feeling.

Wow, so many great ideas.

Alright, for starters I don't smoke (it doesn't include parties :P) and I don't drink coffee. Alcohol in the middle of the week? Nah.. Leave it for the weekend :). Well, I eat everything I see, but that is also not a problem, because I workout and keep myself fit. And I do some exercises after waking up.

So, the only thing that I haven't mentioned is my inner game. And thats the root of this problem. Yesterday I listened through some of Tolle's The Power of Now cds and I applied the stuff he teaches. And... - the next day(thats today) I've had the best morning ever. It's even funny how quickly you can change your old behavior patterns.

Oh and I also drank some water before going to bed (thanks for advice Stormy) :D

The thing about diet isn't just about keeping fit though ;)

It's about how the various forms of nourishment affect your body, specifically how they alter the levels of chemicals and hormones within your body.
Neurochemical responses to certain things.

If you're willing to try out stuff like this; experiment a little.
Go on a strictly vegetarian diet for 3 weeks, and see how it changes your moods your emotions etc.

Everything that enters your body alters, in some way, your chemical balances.

So not overloading on sugar etc. may prove to give you a more stable emotional situation :P

;) But having a fit body helps, of course.
Just remember that a fit body may still be unhealthy, and food regulates and affects more than just body-fat and energy-level. It alters your entire process, including thoughts and feelings. ;)

Cheers.
