im glad i ran into this thread. thinking about it being well built is a form of peacocking. essentially you are doing what others arent no?
the classic "v" shape was brought up and it is true. personally i was thrown into a swimming pool when i was 6 years old and did pretty much only front crawl. after years of that you get a pretty damn good back/shoulders for not so much work. i have lost track of the number of occassions where i have been opened with "nice shoulders" or "wow, are you a swimmer?"
wearing a fitted top or even a vest/tanktop will show this off. another great bonus is when you take your top off when you are back at hers and you see the look of delight on her face its a really nice feeling.
dont get me wrong you wont get ripped just like this, if you want this then you need to have a nice cardio routine and when doing weights for both the fast and slow twitch muscle fibres.
at the moment im doing 2 "sessions" both start with 20ish minutes on a cross trainer with incline at 12 and resistance at 12, this is nice cause it trims down the layers of fat as well as being a pretty good workout.
session 1-arms:
biceps:
3x curls
3x hammer curls
3x twisting curls
3x ape curls
3x widegrip barbell curls
(all these sets to be done to 8 reps whilst in a seated incline bench other then the last 2 ex)
triceps:
pressdowns
rope pulldowns
palm facing you pulldowns
(start on a low level and do 20 reps even if you find this easy and keep going up till you can only do 6-8 reps)
session 2-chest/shoulders/back
back:
close grip pulldowns
extreme widegrip pulldowns behind the back
seated rows
shoulders:
side extensions
lateral raises (both ex on a cross cable machine)
pecs:
cross cable flys
twisting incline dumbell benching
(again start on a low level and do 20 reps even if you find this easy and keep going up till you can only do 6-8 reps)
sorry this post got a bit out of control but this routine WILL bulk you up and give you good defination and yes there are other exercises you can rotate in but these are very very good for building the v shape back as well as keeping nice defination. for the record im only 135 lbs
