I began Martial arts when I was 9 years old and was heavily involved for 12 years. After heading off to college, I couldn't find time to keep up with it. I eventually started training in stunt work for theatre and films. It's just as tough and needs discipline to pull it off, so it has similar applications.
Two things come out of Martial Arts, one is physical fitness and mastery. A fit guy is still a more attractive guy. Even if you are no Adonis and I'm not, I am physically active and in better shape than if I sat on my duff.
Two is the protection factor. Style mentions this in his LAS VEGAS part of the Annihilation Method. A martial artists has a certain appeal to girls because they are capable of handling themselves if things got tough.
As for confidence, that's a different story. You are as confident as you want to be. But I feel the best way to confidence is to set goals and accomplish them. And Martial Arts generally have many goals for one to achieve. It can be a belt or rank, or a tournament win or simply mastering new techniques. Chicks dig a guy who knows what he wants and knows how to get it.
Also exercise and physical activity improve ones mood. And a guy in a good mood is more attractive to girls. Most of my long term friends I met doing Martial Arts, so I belong to a tribe of these types, another benefit and one that chicks dig.
Basically, there is no down side to finding a good Martial Arts school (finding a good one can be tough). Exercise, increased mood, weight loss, physical mastery. One down side though, Dojos are typically 80% guys. They are a lousy place to meet girls.
Great post.
