I used the "embarressing dare" for the rapport and "Hi how is everyone today" as my opener. 80% of the time I used alpha male phrasing. Kept eye contact, and quite often I got IOIs.. but no phone numbers, is this normal for a first try.

Did you attempt to get numbers? The girl won't hand over her number without some form of asking.

I think you did perfectly fine for your first sarge. Don't expect miracles to happen overnight.

When you talk to a girl, say something like, "I want to continue our conversation at some other point." If she returns the interest, then you set up the second meet. Tell her what you plan on doing with her: "Well, I know a nice coffee shop. We can sit together and get to know each other better. Afterwards, we can enjoy a little walk together." Lay out the date to her. Don't ask her what she wants to do. Women hate men who are indecisive. Also, don't make plans to meet her somewhere where it'll be hard to have a conversation: no movies, bars, or clubs.

After you're done laying out the plan. You ask her, "Do you like the sound of that?" She'll say yes. You say, "So I'll call you." She should naturally begin to give her your number.

Remember to control the conversation in a way to get what you want, without outright asking for it. When you ask for something, then it becomes about her doing you a favor.

Also, don't get too hung up over the number. If she doesn't respond or she flakes out on you, then you just forget about it and move on. Women give out numbers all the time. They're not going to call every single guy back. If she flakes out or something, then it's up to her to make it up to you.
