I was recently told that due to having no strong father influence and/or an overly critical female figure, I approach girls like a girl wanting to make a friend. I approach like a pussy, in other words.

What is the alternative to this that I should be doing?

Directly

We all have some background that is responsible for us not being as proficient in the area we're working on. For you it maybe you're dad, for another they could've had an oppressive uncle/cousin/aunt etc.. We all have something, but at the end of the day we all have to get out there and keep approaching. A lot of the answers to your problems will reveal themselves if you would just get the experience and approaching more women, more often.

Not to mention there'd definitely worst situations and people who came much further who had them. Divorced parents is like 50% of the USA; and no one has the perfect mom. You can save yourself the " I didn't have this" mumbo jumbo and just get out there to put the work in.
