If you are going to live by a personal rule, you should be able to understand why you are following those rules and not be doing just because someone told you that you should. If you have been living by this rule, what benefit did you get from it? As of today, you've made your girlfriend more insecure by following this rule.
It sucks to know how right you are. I hurt her by believing a concept i remember hearing without anything to back it up. I do feel terrable about it, and for the first time, she i can see that's its really gotten to her when we facetime.
At this point, i'm just going to take this as a learning experiance because there isn't much i can do now about it.
