We integrate experiences better through emotions, yes there are higher brain processes involved to process things, but our emotional centres help us connect to others, as well as ourselves.
We are actually all creatures of the moment and if we learn to get out of our minds for even just a moment we will that our connections with others become enhanced a great deal. Arousal is not logical, if that makes sense.
For example there's a branch of psychotherapy known as Somatic Experiencing where you integrate both hemispheres of the brain through body work - or what more new agey types would say connecting to the body. When we get trapped in our heads (via thoughts) we become effectively shut off from our bodily experiences and lose presence within ourselves, and by extension to the world around us.
Ever sit in nature? Lay on a beach and feel the wind gently brush your face, or the soothing sounds of waves crashing? Effectively this is somatic work where you're inhabiting your body so-to-speak - you feel at-ease because you're not sitting in your head going "this sucks" or "this is great" rather you're existing in the moment in the space of no-mind (cr: Eckhart Tolle). As a result you feel rejuvenated and in the moment.
