I just came up with an opener, probably influenced by others and would like some opinions.

Me: hi - with smile

Her: hi

Me: What sport do you practice? - smile, clear eye contact, in a reasonably loud voice to overcome the noises in her head especially those of surprise and anxiety from being asked a question from a stranger.

Her: -sport name/i don't do sports/why do you ask

Me: Your walk is very balanced (not sure about the translation here) - said in a calm, slightly slow pace.

Her: thank you/ smile/ call the cops

Me: and this gives you a tone of elegance.

Her: thank you/ smile/ identifying you to the cops

Me: introduce myself, hand shake

That's it for the opener. Depending on what she responded, if she does a classical sport (tennis, etc) i'd say "that's interesting, since what age" and go on talking about childhood or something. If it's a non traditional sport (gym, yoga, running from weirdos) i say something about relaxation and comfort etc.

EDIT: After the elegant walk compliment, i forgot to add that i could turn facing her, tell her to face me, and touch her shoulders and go down on her hands towords her hips and say "you have straight and relaxed shoulders that are aligned with your waist and hips".

Opening, observation, implied compliment with relatively unique compliment, kino. Very proud of this i am :D

I writer never gives estimates for his next work.

It's maybe more then an opening, but it's necessary to show why it's the way it is. Now that you mention it, i do have the next chapter in mind.

Of course, it's my first try to come up with something like this. That's why i'm asking for some feedback.

i'll tell you this, im not looking at your opener right now, but 1, if your questions are too direct : interviewing like it won't ho well.

2. you cant go from opener into comfort. yuh skipping a step.

asking her questions about her, will be showing too much interest too fast, too early

Thanks for the feedback.

On nr. 1, i could see it changed to "can i make an observation about you? you have a very balanced walk, do you practice any sport". It seems to me like this is not such a personal question but maybe it's a language difference thing.

On nr. 2, i don't see where i'm doing that? In my mind it's opener with an observation and implied compliment. Maybe i'm wrong here but i thought that making "correct" observations is a display of value/understanding her world. The relaxation, comfort, etc just comes from the subject itself, as a topic.

I should try it out tomorrow as i go shopping and will report back.

I don't open with compliments either, but with observations that are implied compliments at best. Though i don't see a problem with opening with compliments as long as they are genuine and you have a good transition from.

I said i'll try it today and i have.

At work with a girl i noticed for a couple of weeks (it's a big place). She was giving the vibe of "don't look at me let alone talk to me" before, with my little routine of hi, do you happen to practice any sport etc. she turned in to a smile factory and we talked a little.

I know it's a simple thing but i thought i'd get some more feedback from more experienced people. Am i breaking any "great" rules, decent, bad, whatever. Fairly disappointed to have fuck all of a response.

One thing i've learned from talking with people, when drunk, is that you can make almost everything natural as long as you truly believe in it, at the time.

From there comes my belief that compliments are ok as long as they are genuine. A girl takes your breath away, i think you can say it, and be fine with it. Just don't make it as the only reason you are interested in her.
