Obviously we want to stick out, but not as a lame duck. My style all my life has been essentially the Wal-Mart / salvation army look (Hey, when you're brought up poor you learn to live with it.) Anyway, my entire wardrobe pretty much contained jeans or khakis with a tshirt. Or for work, khakis and a button up shirt.

Recently though I have actually started to notice how unattractive and bland I look. I have been trying to undergo a bit of a personal renovation, while not going overboard and adopting fashions I don't like just because they are popular.

For work, I recently upgraded to finer slacks, dress shirts and blazers. I even bought some really nice gradient tinted prescription Tommy Bahama sunglasses. I also went to a salon and had my hair dyed. It went from being dark brown to "Honey Blond" color. And I like it because it works well with my olive skin color. I also discovered that I look pretty sharp with a little stubble. (But because I can't afford a specialized shaver, I usually have to wait for my facial hair to grow out where I like then start from scratch when it gets too long)

Anyway, that covers a professional look that has turned a few heads at work.

But I am also a college student and for my non work style, I essentially have nothing.

So I guess the main point of this post is to ask where should I start looking for style ideas for a more casual lifestyle?

I too am extremely poor. Up until i got into PUA i had been wearing the same shit for literally the last 10 years.

I recommend looking at celebrities, regardless of if you like them or not as people, and instead look at how they dress. Find a few that have a similar style you like and try to find cheap alternatives to major brands to acheive the look you want.

You dunt have to spend alot of money to look good. In a set me and my brother closed in our last weekend in Nashville the set actually told us we picked them up because of our ties. My tie costed 8 bux, the shirt was from like sears/jcpenny (maybe 20-30 bux), and my hat was like 15 bux. I got my jeans at Aeropostle (20 bux, altho they are ok, im starting to sih i didnt get bootcut). All in all my outfit probably didnt cost 100 bux total and the chicks loved it.

That celebrity idea sounds great. I actually used something similar with the business attire I talked about earlier. I saw the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale, when it first came out and fell in love with some of the fashion Daniel Craig was wearing. It was really classy and best of all, I enjoy wearing that kind of clothes. I got a lot of great suits and business casual clothes from Burlington coat factor, Ross and Marshalls.

I will certainly try to find a celebrity who dresses casually in a manner I think I can pull off.

I relaly didn't care about my wardrobe until I started reading this stuff....I decided to just find some new stuff...I got a couple pairs of kinda sporty sweat pants (dont know how to describe them, they arnt cottony but they arnt like shiny noisy ones) for 10 bucks, got a white pair and wore it to school with a collard shirt and got compliments on it, guys and girls.... I like the celebrity idea, except some trends famous people start (like those damn tight jeans) make no sense to me, so I stay away.... I never knew how much of a difference clothes make and yeah, poor is hard, but its easy to change one thing slightly and make it work

I think I've posted before about my obsession with T-shirts but I'll reiterate a few things.

Tshirts can be cheap and stylish. Usually you can get decent ones for 10 bucks from places like steve&barry's and walmart and pretty cool ones from Hot Topic for about 12-16 bucks. Still other shirts you can get from concerts and stuff to start music interest convos with women.

But as far as I'm concerned, online tshirt companies are the holy grail of peacocking tshirts. Bustedtees.com, Tshirthell.com, and my personal favorite Snorgtees.com have the absolute best shirts in the world. There are also a few on defunkertees.com that arent as harsh in their messaging (just look on these to figure out what im saying here)

Shipping costs and a little extra cash might run you a little higher but these things MORE than pay off in the field. and it's way cheaper and you'll have more fun wearing them than going out to buckle or Abercrombie and getting whats "in" like all the prepies out there.

If you are going the tshirt route, keep them simple and to the point. Those wordy shirts that say stupid shit like "Out of my mind, if I get back before I return, Let me know" are too fucking wordy, retarded and are usually worn by geeks and guys that are either too shallow or too shy to have a personality of their own.

Cheap, comfortable, and attention getting. What more could you want from peacocking gear?!?

I get all of my PUA attire at anchor blue. Basically, I pick out a screen tee I like, and tell the sales girl that I need an outfit to go with it (she's really cool about that), and then she brings it to me.

I've found that if you're trying to ATTRACT women, it's better to give them some say in what you're wearing.
