Now besides screaming till I lose my voice or trying to catch a cold, is there a way to get that deep voice on the quick? I'm trying to practice speaking in a voice that's an octave deeper, but I'm afraid that I'll start talking like that to a HB and then minute into the conversation forget all about it and revert to my normal voice. Which is not really high pitched or anything, I'd just like it to be a bit deeper.

I have three words of advice: practice practice practice. Speak in the voice you want to have 24/7. After a while, it will have become second nature to you. I have consciously modelled my voice to resemble Criss Angel's, and it's worked for me.

While you're at it, try speaking from your abdomen as opposed to from your lungs. It's something that's a bit easier on your throat when you have to yell for four consecutive hours in a loud environment. It's a technique that's taught to people who use their voice a lot - teachers, actors, singers, you name it.

Hope this helps - if anything I say is wrong according to someone else's experience, please let me know. I'm still working on my voice (there's always room for improvement) so I'd be happy to hear what others' experiences have been in this area.

I'll see if slaming a freezing cold beer right before helps.

Well, it took a lot of work before I got to the point where I could stand in for Johnny Cash. Diaphragm breathing (from your belly) helps to move air across your vocal cords more efficiently, allowing deep speak to be heard louder.

But yeah, I'm a firm believer that vocal skills can be learned through a lot of practice. Just like all those trial runs you took in front of the mirror before you nailed that Christopher Walken impression for the first time, a deeper sounding voice is going to take a little work.

God forbid you call the girl later, or see her again, she might find out how you really sound when you aren't acting.

It's not acting if you are making a choice to change the way you talk, it's merely a different way of talking than before. Just like how you learn in elementary school that breathing in through your mouth and down to your abdoman and then out through your nose, makes it so that you don't cramp; now you learn that speaking with the force coming from your diaphram instead of your lungs, you can have a deeper voice. That choice isn't any different from changing your haircut, or how you dress.

Understand that and you will learn to make that deeper voice your voice and not just something you do in order to impress people, but something you do to be the person you desire and learn how to achieve your full potential.

Thanks a lot guys, I'm really working on that. I'll see if I can find some books or sites online about diaphram breathing techniques.

One thing that helps me is that I work in a call center, so since all of our calls are recorded, I can go back and listen to mine. I have a post-it on my screen that reminds me to work on my voice every day.

Last night I've noticed that my voice had grately improved. I was gaming the chick that was doing my new tattoo and e-mail closed her btw. I've noticed that my short replys are just in the perfect pitch I want it to be, and I don't even have to focus on it, it comes automatically now.

Or maybe I was just in a lot of pain. I'll keep you updated.

I've never tried, but I heard that singing lessons help deepen your voice.

Singing lesson help you control your voice. It does deepen it.

To deepen it we have a think which we learn in boot camp as the blow out method.

Whenever we respond we had to scream at the top of our lungs or were suppose to. Of course your voice is going to blow out and you lose it. Then it would come back and be even stronger and deeper. The only drawback is that you could get a raspy voice.(Imagine sounding like the Drill Instructor off Full Metal Jacket)

I think trying to become....well I am about to fuck this word up but a ventrilaquist...lol wow that looks horrible! Well the guy who uses puppets to talk would be the best way to go. They have to have the strongest and most voice control then anyone. Also I could be a good way to pick up women.

Think about it. You take a Doll out who is dressed up and peacocking the doll. The doll is your wingman. You might can run some sick game like that. Who thinks that could work?

LMAO That was just something that was tossed on the top of my head. I would use the doll more at parties then at clubs but hey it could work. Now I wonder what PUA has the balls to actually try it!

Kind of along the lines as Whoop suggested, but I've noticed that humming works. Not the weak just get your lips buzzin a little kind, but a deep chested hum. One you can feel the rattling of everything in your chest. Deep down in the lungs in particular. Do that for about 30 seconds or so every so often. It helps with relaxing the vocal chords and also with getting the lungs and diaphragm in a decent alignment to bring required air along the vocal chords to produce the deeper tone.

I can't talk deep and loud at the same time. I can talk deeply when I want, but then it loses it's volume and expressiveness. What do you guys recommend?

Apparently talking from your stomach would do the trick. I practice every day, and I'm almost where I wanna be.
