CASE: Gym girl
Well. To be honest this is barely a case. But I still would appreciate some advice, I think that could be generally very useful.
There's this girl that work at the reception at my gym. I'm there 3 times a week and see her at least once a week. She's some special kind humbly cute, that really has a hold over me. I act like a retarded 16 year old around her. She's kind of my Achilles heel. She is super nice to everyone, well, cause that's her job, so I have a really hard time getting a read on her. But we do almost always have very prolonged eye contact, way more than I can get with the other receptionists. And this been going on for like 10 or more times.
Up until last time I have really fumbled with the conversation. She always ask med if my training was nice and I pretty much smiley dumbly and reply "It was nice!". But last time I really tried to get my shit together.
I had thought I'd seen her in town the other day, with a longboard. But her clothing was so different from the once at the gym, I wasn't sure. (Of course I should have approached her - I'm chicken little - SUE ME!). Anyhooow. After she asked me how my training was I reply:
Me: "It was super awesome today, thanks! .... Was it you I saw the other day, skating at XXXX?
Her: "Yeah, well, I wasn't skating, just holding a board actually."
Me: "Ah, you're just a poser then, standing around with a board, smoking being all cool n shit."
Her: "Yeah, pretty much."
Me: "I wasn't sure if that was you, you were dressed so differently. I'm pretty sure there is a word for that. When you see someone, you recognize them but can't place them, because you only seen them in their work clothes"
Her: "Really? What's the word"
Me: "Well, I don't remember the word. But there is one, I'm pretty sure." (Do anyone know of this - help me the fuck out here?! Google was no help. But I'm sure I read this somewhere.)
A few more lines of small talk while I put on my shoes, and I'm ready to leave. As I walk through the door, she says:
"You know, I did see you too that day ...Bye!"
Is it just me? Everything up to that point could have been nice small talk as a part of her job. But she must know by now I have a crush on her. And why would she admit to that, knowing it would only spark my interest more, if she was just being nice?
Am I grasping for straws here? What is my next move? Cause I have no fucking idea.
Update:
So yesterday I go to the gym a bit early. I go to the spinning section to warm up, and she is there. Just the two of us. Instincly I start a conversation but I'm so suprised at seeing her there I get nervous and kind of fail in the conversation. She's leading the conversation for a bit, asking me questions. Then the conversation kind of fades, since I'm starting to get out of breath. She continues her intervall training, and I go work out feeling shitty about having the perfect opportunity to flirt and ask her out.
Today, she's at the reception and I go talked to her after my work-out. Ask her what her name is. She seems really nervous rambling some joke about stalking all gym members (she already knew my name). I take it as an IOI. So I say,
"It was cool talking to you yesterday, we should do that again, but you know, without being all out of breath on a bike."
"Yeah, sure. But I'm moving out of town tomorrow" (She did mention this yesterday)
"But you'll be in MY TOWN every now and then, right?"
"Yeah"
"So we'll see if we can get together then. We don't we exchange numbers"
"Well....we could do that.... [at this point she start to sound quite hessitant] I'll give you mine" and she writes it on a note (her real nr btw)
Sooo.... I'm also moving far away in one month and she knows this. So it's pretty obvious, if we would meet that it would be a one-time hook-up. I think my chances are quite slim.
How would you play this?
