First time deadlifting today! WOOT! Went up to 2x5 at 240 lbs. Not too shabby! Gonna be sore, but the good kind Amanda and Javi (lifting partner) came, and we got a nice little lifting group going. Hell yeah.

And, Amanda wore shorts. Ugh.

MY YOUTUBE SEO TRICK IS WORKING! This is some real black hat shit, but I'm gonna keep using it if it works.

Got all the shit done I wanted to get done today save for one thing, which isn't bad. Time to reward myself. It's my birthday celebrations tonight, and we're going to a wine and cheese place.

10~ish people RSVP'd yes, 10`ish maybe, and I even get to see my best friend from NY who just moved to Boulder (1 hour away!) YESSSSSSSS

This weekend is gonna be ill. Tonight- going out and celebrating (in an hour).

Saturday night- going to Colleen's place in Denver to party.

Sunday- Amanda and I are celebrating my birthday

Man, today was a little bit rough. I'm getting a little bit too invested and outcome-dependent with this business thing, and on days where my business doesn't grow, I get anxious and stressed out.

Need to work on that.

So my youtube SEO hack is actually brilliant, and it works in getting any video I make to the first page of rankings.
The game now is to be able to get people to click on it (capture attention, generate interest / curiosity with headlines / thumbnail), and to engage / retain their attention.

My plan now to increase my subscriber base is to do a lot more collaborations / do affiliate marketing in my niche.

Going to contact people in my niche and see if I can pitch my product to their subscriber base by offering 75% commission. It's going to take some business negotiations, and my plan is this for affiliates:

Invite them on my podcast to give them traffic and exposure (value giving). This establishes a connection with them and sparks reciprocity.

Then pitch the idea to them, focusing on the benefits for them (they get money if it sells, and their fans get value).

The targets right now include:
Jocelyn Eikenburg from the speakofchina.com blog
Tim Han from Success Insider (same niche on YouTube, a bigger audience, rapport already established with him)

And then I'll look for more in my niche. There aren't a whole lot of dudes, the biggest one is basically JT Tran and he's not doing affiliate offers. I'll look for some overseas guys, like the Asian Rake dude.

For my podcast, next week I'm interviewing Jocelyn and I'm also interviewing a female dating coach for men, Marni. Good social proof, but I'm not sure if this does more than just doing Q&A videos.

I also plan to do a Q&A hangout with my audience on Sunday mornings, where after the weekend of going out, I can sit with them on google hangouts on air and help them debrief and solve problems. This would definitely give value and establish trust with my followers.

Okay, that's plan.

My other plan is this:

Make a video reviewing JC's MWWY program, use my youtube SEO hack to get it to the top of the rankings, and get some money promoting that program.

I'm trying to write all the copy out beforehand for these types of videos, and then to transfer that copy into words that I speak out loud, and I'm not quite sure how well it's working. We shall see. I'm definitely glad I spent like 3 months doing nothing but learning copy, though, it's helped in pretty much all areas of this business, including structuring my videos.

Update-

The views are rolling in on YouTube, but the subs are still slow. Subs and opt-ins at about 1 per day or two days.

Recorded and edited my affiliate promoting video. I'm ready to upload / SEO optimize / promote it to get it to the top of page 1, and then I'm gonna see if the $$$ starts coming in. As long as I can get them to click, JC's VSL will do the rest.

My new ideas to speed this along...

It seems like speed in the business growth game is all about affiliates. Building a fan base and a following takes a lot of time, and I think I'm going to work on the affiliate game to see if it's faster.

Basically, I've got a product and a VSL and a tiny following. I'm gonna look for people with big followings / lots of traffic and build a relationship with them.

Basically...

Do a podcast with them, chat them up, make a connection.
Pitch the affiliate plan (75% commission for them). I get a shitload of more followers, they get $$$$

Similar to gaming girls hahahaha

I fixed up my VSL and sales page a bit, so it should convert better than it was before.

Targets so far-

Jocelyn from Speaking of China. Got a podcast with her this coming Saturday.

Marni, a female dating coach. Got a podcast with her in mid-February. This one won't be as productive because her following is more white-centric than it is Asian-centric. Could still practice the affiliate pitch though...

Tim Han from Success Insider. Already did a podcast with him, sent him a FB message with the pitch already. No response yet, but I know he's on vacation right now, we shall see.

Looking for more targets, but my niche is monopolized by one bro that isn't doing affiliate marketing, and his marketing looks kinda shitty to me.

Too bad it's working, cuz he's got insane amounts of social proof and positioning.

We're gonna see if the JC product promoting plan works, and if it makes money, then I'll know that the whole YouTube SEO hack thing that I do is a win, and I can take it from there. So the direction I'll take will be based on the success of that plan.

Oh, other plan:

To establish more authority, I'm thinking of holding a weekly mastermind meeting / Q&A session for my following (basically a Google hangout on Air) on a Sunday morning so guys can debrief with me / troubleshoot things after the two heaviest nights of social interaction.

If nobody shows up, I'll just record a video by myself. Sounds like a sick idea to me.

As for state control, I'm doing better. These days are so cerebral that I have to take time while walking to meditate, get out of my head, and focus on the present. It's been helping, and I'm feeling less stressed out.

We've got a nice little gym crew going. It's me, Amanda, and Javi, and occasionally one or two other people.

PR'd in the bench today, moving on to 175 lbs next week, hell yes. Also PR'd in the squat. Amanda's doing all these exercises with us, and running. Hell yeah.

Oh, interesting thing happened. For my birthday, I went over to Amanda's, and we cooked dinner for her whole family. Later on in the night, in her room, she actually showed me her diary.

It was like a portal and a microscope for the female mind. Super interesting, reading that thing. She used to have a lot of negative self-talk, as I suspect a lot of guys do. It seems to be better now.

And I got a huge ego boost from reading about the parts with me in them. Damn external validation, making me feel all giddy.

This is gonna be a tough semester. I'm already working on my PhD proposal, and balancing that with business is going to be tough, and money is going to be tight.

Good thing I'm an absolute fucking workhorse.

Oh yeah.

Cassandra drunk texted me on Saturday night at like 3 am. Lol. Still killin it with the ladies even when I'm taken, rusty, and stressed out.

Alyssa just got back. Haven't contacted her yet, but will probably study party with her.

Cassie, a fun, attractive girl I met two Thursdays ago, messaged me on Facebook. That's not nothing.

Amusing.

Hannah didn't call to wish me a happy birthday, and I'm 100% sure it was because I didn't meet up with her when she came into Denver for her residency interview this past weekend.

I'm pretty happy with the way I handled that whole situation. I was 100% truthful to both Amanda and Hannah the whole time, and although Hannah ended up pissed and sad, there wasn't a whole lot I could do about that.

C'est la vie.

My business mindset is a little wonky.

I've been watching some RSD Tyler videos, and I've realized that I may have a scarcity mindset when it comes to money and business right now.

All I'm thinking is... how do I get more subscribers? How do I get more this? How do I get more that? What does my following think of me?

Whereas I should be thinking... How do I give more value? How do I get my followers what they need?

So I need to work on changing my mindset.

YouTube is going alright, plus 1 sub each day. Going to make more videos targeting more keywords, but the process will be slower since the semester has started.

Maybe the focus will be... I'll contact some higher level podcasts like the Art of Charm or something, see if I can interview Jordan Harbinger, and then see if I can get a reciprocal interview on his podcast or something. That'd be dope.

New business idea...

On my business FB profile, I've joined a million AMWF groups to study my target market, and there are quite a few out there.

My plan is to pitch affiliate marketing to the admins of those groups. If they let me advertise on their page, or if they advertise themselves, I'll give them 75% commission.

Trying to figure out if there's any other way I can benefit them. Maybe send traffic their way off YouTube? We shall see.

I'm getting better at speaking in front of camera. Listening to RSD Tyler rant on videos while I do lab work helps.

Remember, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

New PR's in my bicep / back workout today, and DUDE. This YouTube SEO hack is killer. Any new video I make, I just spend 3-4 nights promoting it, and boom. It goes to the top of the first page. FUCK YES.

What that means is basically I need to make a video every 3-4 days, promote it, and soon I'll dominate a bunch of the search engines for my niche, get a bunch of traffic, and capture a lot of leads. Slow, but hey, whatever.

I LOVE deadlifting!

I'm getting bigger, but also fatter. I'm under the impression it's real hard to make gains and cut at the same time, so I'm gonna focus on gains, and then after a bit, I'll add in more cardio and start to cut.

Went out last night for like the second time in 3 months or so, and I forgot how much I loved it.

It was like getting back on the bike again, and everything still felt easy. Talking with strangers felt easy. "Getting in state" felt easy.

Self amused the whole time, flirted with girls like it was nothing, left at the end feeling like a million bucks.

One girl's name was Jasmine, and I asked her if I could be her Aladdin. Lulz.

Gotta do that more.

In the process of rewriting my VSL AGAIN. It'll be better this time because:

1. I've learned more about copy writing.
2. I've got more social proof.
3. I've got more authority (been featured on this, on that, etc.)

The Aladdin thing is OK because it establishes interest, but I guarantee you she's heard it 1000 times.

This would be better: "Haha, how many unoriginal assholes have told you they'll be your Aladdin?"

She'll be like "Oh, maybe a billion or so."

Then you say "Don't get me wrong, all sorts of childhood fantasies are coming back to me talking to you right now, but I can just imagine how old that gets."

When I was in San Diego last month one of the girls I met was named Jasmine. That's the exact conversation we had when we met. Two days later I was in her bed, her legs wrapped around me. PROVEN! BULLETPROOF! FIELD TESTED! (marketer inherently ignores n=1 of course )

This weekend was good for me. I made my 3rd sale, my 1st affiliate sale, and my business is growing quickly.

When I saw my ClickBank account I literally knelt on the floor and wept.

I don't know how many people can possibly understand how much work and sacrifice I've put into this, and to finally know that I've been doing something right is ...

It doesn't look like much on paper, but it feels like I won the Super Bowl.

People have been contacting me about SPAM / phone coaching, and I'm thinking about whether to just offer a free consulting call to construct the offer verbally, or to create a sales page for coaching offers and direct people towards it. Right now, I think the sales page might convert higher, so I'm leaning towards that.

Also thinking about my price structure.

Obviously means more work, WHICH I FUCKING LOVE. I LOVE WORK.

How people can say that? Ha.

Haha yea I figured she'd hear something similar along those lines many times.

Yea man, affiliate and internet marketing takes a lot of work and grinding in the beginning before you start seeing some actual results, and you still need to be grinding to keep growing and progressing, but it's awesome because you get to be really creative and be more own boss. It's a lot of fun and there's nothing like it lol.

Consulting calls be good and build rapport with them but it can take some time. Sales page for coaching can definitely automate it for you, free up your time and can be a good revenue stream once you get a lot of traffic. Best of luck man!

Business is exploding. I found a new lead generation technique that is INSANE that I haven't seen anybody use. Super stoked about it.

Made my 5th sale today. That's 3 sales in the past 3 days. My biggest breakthroughs have been the YouTube SEO hack and this new lead generation technique.

I'm working on my new VSL, which is going to be miles better than my old one, considering all the new information I've learned.

It's going slow, because I have to get my PhD proposal in soon as well (hasn't been started).

But golly I'm actually starting to believe that this is going to turn into a career. I can see the light.

I'm getting more questions about dating, more inquiries than I have time to answer. People are asking about coaching. I'm so happy this is all finally coming together!!!!

Cannot thank Daniel Balboa enough for his guidance with copy writing. If he hadn't pointed me in the right directions, I wouldn't have known about swiped.co. I wouldn't have known about copying old newsletters. I wouldn't have read the right books. I would've had to figure all that out on my own, which would've taken twice as long.

Not just that, but I was going at it alone the whole time, putting in hours and hours of work, without actually knowing if what I was doing was going to work or if it was right. He gave me positive feedback to keep me motivated.

So much to be grateful for in this life.

Got it.

Today was fantastic. Goals for tomorrow.

Kick ass in the lab I teach in the morning. Get lab work done (1-2 hrs). Get more of the new VSL copy written. Write more of proposal. Hit all my lifts. Record one new video. Not going to waste time eating, even if it's with Amanda, gonna convince her to eat and work with me at the same time.

Almost finished with copywriting book, gonna finish it, and then use it as a guide to write the new VSL shit.

Let's do it.

HELL YES! HELL YES to life right now.

Just passed the 100 subscriber / 10,000 view mark on YouTube. Into the mid 40's on both the email list and the Facebook group.

My biggest sources of traffic: Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit.

Something clicked this past week and the speed of all this is picking up. I almost can't keep up with it, what with grad school and all. This very well might be might last semester in school...

The question now is how to monetize more... more traffic? New product? Both?

Gonna focus on traffic for right now.

I'm getting way too many messages and questions now from clients, so I'm going to have to restricting the time I spend to responding to everyone just to the mornings, right when I wake up.

I just got my 4th or 5th question about texting, and I was thinking about it, and a lightbulb flashed in my head.

THAT'S my next product! The demand is there. I know so much more about product creation and copywriting now, so I can create the product with the sales message in mind from the beginning.

Super excited about this one.

A lot of things still stand in the way, however:

I'm thinking also of doing a sales video straight on YouTube, and directing traffic straight to the VSL for the texting product.
