So I have been reading various threads on here to do with finding out if a girl is single.

A girl and I were texting each other and I asked her what she was doing today and she said she was doing nothing at all. I asked her why she was not hanging out with her boyfriend (trying to find out indirectly if she is single) and she did not reply back. She did not deny having a bf so I am guessing she is taken?

If a girl has a boyfriend (and he's actually relevant) she won't even bother.

If she's got an awesome boyfriend already, she's going to make that very clear, very early in the interaction.

She wouldn't have even bothered talking to you in the first place. She would have said "I have a boyfriend" right out of the gate if he actually mattered.

Ok. I was more talking about girls on my course at university so I suppose she would bother talking to me but you are right, it the bf was awesome then she would have definitely mentioned it if the conversation was becoming personal and when talking about plans for the weekend, holidays etc...

If she has a bf who is not awesome and she did not mention a bf on the first occasion you talk, then I suppose it would come out at some point. With this girl when we talked about what we do in our spare time and hobbies, she did not once mention a bf.

This is good to hear.

My question to you is, does it matter?

Because as was already said, if there was a boyfriend and he did matter, you would have known about it very early on.

Also, asking that question like that is not only paper thin, but also quite cheesy.

SO would you just always assume that a girl is single until she brings it up?

It is just comforting to know if a girl is single.

I.. just don't care.

I naturally assume I'm better than all her contenders, boyfriend or not. If she happens to be in a happy relationship then she'll be unreceptive, and I'll move on. Doesn't really matter why she's unreceptive, just that she is.

On the other hand, if she is receptive, great. This is about me and her. Why would I care about a third person?

I have a half-true joke with some friends. If she's single, it's you vs everybody else. If she's not single, it's you vs just one other guy. So if it's comfort you're looking for..
