Is the, "I was drunk" or even more extreme, "I was fucked up, and don't remember" explanation really an excuse for infidelity?

Should someone's infidelity been forgiven, or should you expect to be forgiven if you were really fucked up and ended up cheating?

Other than the hard and fast assumption than the presence of alcohol does not matter, and even just a kiss counts as cheating, I have not found a real consensus on the matter. I have never been much of a strict black and white type of guy, so I am looking for some opinions.

At what point does inebriation become a forgivable excuse?

Does the degree of infidelity matter, whether it was one kiss, having sex, or somewhere in between?

Should the manner in which you discover the act be a significant factor? Such as the other person came forward and told you/her, you/she found out from another source, you/her witnessed the act.

It's like you said...it's neither black or white. Some girls will accept it and be pissed for a while, some will walk away, and then there will be the ones that actually will be okay with it (keep your eye on that type).

Alcohol is never a defence for anything.

It slows reactions time, it impairs judgment HOWEVER above all else alcohol disinhibits behavior; there's a reason its often referred to as "liquid courage".

You choose to drink alcohol, any consequences that come with that rests solely upon the individual.

If you did something 'dumb', then you exercised poor judgment. To say that somehow the alcohol was responsible is ridiculous and a way to try and escape any personal accountability.

Girls use it as an excuse to go home with you to 'hangout', I love it.

As a guy should you forgive this type of behavior, and tolerate a slip up?

eh...it is all in your personal preference. I wouldn't tolerate that. I always move on and find some girl more responsible or at least not putting herself in situations.


To be honest, girls usually beat around the bush around subjects. They rarely take blame for anything. They are very indirect..

Because most the guy's they've been with and/or approach them reinforce this; they placate, fix and do everything where the woman doesn't need to take any accountability for her behavior. Blame all the chodes out there for reinforcing this behavior.

Alcohol will aid in making stupid decisions.

It comes down to personal prefferences and what you can and cannot live with.
