First off, I am not day gaming... I just occasionally have a good convo with a girl working as cashier or whatever like this and don't know what to do if I actually want to proceed further.

Here is an example from yesterday (and this has happened before):

Went to the mall, saw a cute girl selling stuff at a kiosk. I realized I wanted the product too so I stopped and bought it. While she was putting it together and ringing me out we had a good maybe 3-4 minute talk and she was all smiles and seemed like she wanted to talk more by asking me other questions on other topics and talking about her personal life. Great!

So typically I would have continued the conversation another few minutes (the mall is desolate) and another customer comes up behind me. So I have only a few options now:

1. Quick phone close, ex. "Give me your number so we can talk later".

2. Let her sell to the next customer and wait until she is done.

3. Say thanks, nice meeting you. And leave... anticipating to come back a few days later and strike up conversation again walking by but go for the close faster now.

So I didn't feel comfortable yet going for #1 (also the person would still have to wait a bit which she may find rude idk) and I feel like #2 is kind of weird. So I went for #3. But I feel like that isn't really right either.

What should I have done instead? Should I bother carrying out #3 by returning in a few days or just move on? If so, suggestions?

This is key. Acknowledge how awkward the situation is and you'll make everyone more comfortable. Show her that you are not socially retarded.
