GOAL: Open as many sets as possible.

Tonight went decent. I started off at a bar where there was an old friend of mine playing (major social proof as the guitarist kept calling out my name etc etc). I tried out one of two openers...

OPENER: Hey is this the first time you've seen Walt?

From here I'd segway into a story about how there used to be a glass boot that they'd fill with beer blah blah DHV blah...

OPENER: Some people say I look like inspector gadget in this hat, I think I look like Indiana Jones what do you think?

Now I'd usually say something like, "What was that girl's name? Penny!" blah blah blah

I got a lot of responses tonight as though I was creepy. A bunch of ladies heard me out (S + R response to socialize I suppose) but then walked away in a "What a creepy strange guy" kinda way. It was really hot or cold though, some women loved the Indiana Jones intro <shrugs>. I have no idea what was up with that.

The place broke up into about one 15 set (The music was kinda low so it was a true 15 set, not 3 or 4, 5 sets) and I did the best I could to work the rest of the crowd. In the two hours I was there I'd say I got about 10 sets, none of them really hooked other then the all male single sets (Just going for social proof and leader of men, not to mention extra practice).

I had one interesting set where I was talking to two girls about the Indiana Jones bit and a third joined them, external interrupt, she said, "Huh? I guess I missed, the movie" to which I responded, "Nope, just the previews." I thought that was slick but as I hadn't hooked the set yet, they ejected to chat with their friend <sigh>

Then I ejected to another bar and opened three more sets. One thought I was totally creepy with my Indiana Jones approach, they were a mixed 4 set everyone was bf/gf so no big shock, another responded well (some patron and the hired gun bartender), and a third was with this girl who didn't speak English that well.

The girl who didn't speak English turned out to be fun! After a bunch of fumbling I managed an email address close, but as she lives in another country I plan on just hitting her up for practice. Also, I had to casually ask for the email, she didn't offer it up so she wasn't really throwing me IOI's. The email close was a nice end to the evening though.

FUTURE WORK: Eliminate the "Creepy" vibe. I'm not exactly sure why I'm giving it off, but I seem to be. I think I need to work more on my A2 phase and actually setting the hook.
