Texting number passed from friend (Need opinions)

So one of my friends passed me a number of a girl he used to talk to but never had sex with. I met her once briefly, but I never actually texted a chick that didn't give me her number directly before I feel like it's intruding in my opinion. But, I want to know your guys opinion on it am I just overthinking it and I should just text her?

If she didn't give you the number or give the friend permission to give you the number, you shouldn't text her.

I've done with a few times just for kicks. The girls don't actually mind if you're entertaining. Approaching a random girl on the street is actually a bit worse in comparison. Maybe equal.

I think if you're going to do it, you should at least tell your buddy to shoot her a message first saying he gave her number out...

Would reduce the creep factor IMO.
