But don't just outright ask for the number, lend the conversation to lead to it naturally.

After a bit of humor (like 1 or two messages from you) transition using a transitional phrase into some date idea, by finding out if she likes something, then present it as if you're already going to do it and paint the picture of how great a time she'll have during it. Finally, just ask for her number. Over teh phone or text you can set up all the logistics.

Start setting up the date. Find out what her schedule looks like for the next week or so, she'll give you a free day if she's interested (or say some shit to deflect the question, or answer you with something like busy, or working) some are trying to waste time, others are too stupid to realize they are getting in the way of you setting the date. If she responds like this ask when she is free, if she doesn't give you a day she isn't trying to set up a date with you right now, so your options are to chat back and forth until she is comfortable, or move on.

Yeah I always lead into asking women out by first having them tell me a day they're free. It makes them appear in-congruent so even if they're nervous they'll agree to the date. If they change the subject or refuse to agree after they've told me a free day I often say they're a waste of time, and I move on.

It's easy to cut off women man. I used to get this chip like I should keep trying, but there is no point. You'll be rejected far more than you actually close.
