I'm 26 and recently met this girl at a coffee shop. She and I come in at around the same time every day and we've made small talk a few times. I didn't think much of anything since I go in there to really get work done. I noticed the other day that she's always checking to see if I'm looking at her and has been starting conversations with me lately.

I figured I'd approach because I felt they were IOIs. So we get to talking and our age comes up and she says she's 23. The thing is, I overheard her last week talking about just turning 19. Is this a pretty good sign that she's interested? Was she lying to appear closer to my age or is this nothing?

I would've stayed and talked to her more to get a better idea, but a friend I was waiting for showed up so I introduced them briefly and had to leave.

That's a great sign, it's a strong indication of interest. She's qualifying herself to you. This girl should be in the bag, assuming you don't fuck it up.

And you didn't go for her number before ejecting with your friend?

I personally would of called her out, and told her she doesn't have to lie. That ship has sailed. But its a clear indicator that she wants you to feel she is qualified.

Now all you need to do is stop baby stepping this whole process.

Disagree about calling her out on it. That would cause embarrassment which leads to negative emotions. We want to keep a positive emotional vibe.

I would have said tongue in check things about life as someone over 21. "oh so they're finally letting you drink huh? I would have ID'd you and scanned for a fake."
