I'd say a lot of the concepts of modern pick-up are actually used by Ryan Gosling in the film (Yeah, I'd be that confident if I looked like he does). The only aspect I totally didn't agree with was his notion of always buying a girl a drink, whether or not they wanted one. I never buy a girl a drink that I haven't slept with and I think that's a universal rule for those who aren't AFCs.
Give it a watch if you have some time on your hands. It's actually not a bad movie for its genre, a few laughs, some great situations and you get to see a Hollywood version of transformation from AFC to "PUA".
Even though I'm a beginner and struggle with some of these concepts themselves, I'd pay special attention to Ryan Gosling's frame when speaking to women and his IDGAF attitude in always assuming attraction. Also notice how he is unapologetic about his desire for these women and allows his masculine intent to be shown in every interaction.
