But I think the above example conversation probably contained too much negs/shit tests back and forth too be easy to save. Probably means there was too much uncertainty/lack of confidence buildup earlier in your approach, so I would probably give up after the above shit test, after dealing back a suitable face-saver.

Would I say this to the guy? :? I'm not sure I understood, or maybe you misunderstood or I expressed the initial shit test vaguely? The point is the girl is someone I've had some very vague flirting contact with. Then she does this provoking move by interrupting my conversation with a guy who is a friend/acquaintance. It's not the guy taking the initiative to this, it's the girl who is doing the provoking shit test move. It's happened more than once (but with many years in between the times), and turned me AFC in both cases, so I'd really like some tips on what to do in the situation.
