Dude, ugly guys can get laid from cold approach. They can get laid with hot girls. I've seen it. Multiple times. You have listed three potential options in your article, the first being the photographer, the second begin the "substance" dealer, and the third being a musician. However an ugly guy can get laid purely by social skills as well, and these social skills can be applied either in a social circle or in cold approach. Not once did you preach ugly guys should also up their social game.

I'm not bashing your suggestions. But I'm guessing these ugly guys you talk about are also confident in the way they talk to their women, even though they are ugly. If an ugly dude who's inexperienced with women were to read your article, the advice he is getting is "find something other than you that women want, and exchange that for sex". Hmmm, not a great start I would say.

Yes, this has been my experience as well.
The sexual attraction is never there. They eventually decide to sleep with him, because they like other things about him. IF he's good in bed, they can then think of him as sexy. But before that time, they have to have other reasons. Which pretty much rules out SNLs on even moderately sober chicks(and most drunk ones).
My main wonder is if your friend is actually unattractive, or just average. I've found men to be a terrible judge of other men's looks by and large. His body plays a bigger role than his face. Is he taller than average, is he fit? Having a somewhat ugly face(which is also often misdiagnosed by men) is not nearly as big a deal for men as it is for women.

He is short and stocky. He is definitely below average...it's undeniable. He's a guy that when he's out with a hot girl, just about everyone questions how he got her. Comments are always made basically stating that he must have money. I used to work with one of his ex's and she even talked about how it was strange that he was unattractive but at the same time he was sexy.

He is 28 or 29 but I don't ID the women he dates, but they seem to be in their early to mid twenties. I do know that the woman I spoke of earlier was 23 at the time he dated her.

I understand your core belief is that looks are so important that girls can't get passed them. No matter what someone else has seen or you even seen, it has to be some condition that makes it explainable. It would be great if you do come out here and meet him because no matter how you try to rationalize it he does what you say is not possible. That's my purpose. I believe you(unlike OceanX and the many midgets and elderly men he claims to know who are dating hot 20somethings). I've learned a lot from hanging out pretty briefly with guys who were good at something. I'm pretty good at figuring things out and breaking them down. I'm not especially good looking. Slightly over average. I'm used to dating women about 2-3 points better looking than I am. But I could not possibly be able to pick these girls up in a bar for a SNL. Not with any decent consistency for the amount of time I was doing it. I'd probably be out for weeks straight to do it even one time.
No, I've said before that you can date quite out of your league through social circle. That I've seen plenty of times. Even with consistency. But for random pickups? No, I've never met the man who's in the 3-4 range who can pick up even a 7(much less a "10") in a bar or club environment. I was wanting to clarify to make sure this was legit.
