Just an update of an experiment im starting today. I read up on a device called the Pavlock. It is a device that administers a mild electric shock to change your bad habits. With this in mind I thought it would be worth testing to see if it will work for AA as well. However I don't have the $125 to spend on the device. So im Making super cheap knock offs for the testing. The one im wearing now is simple. I disassembled a grill lighter an took out its shock mechanism an glued it to the in side of a bracelet. The shock doesn't hurt in the least but as a starting point for the experiment it will do. After one week ill be using another shock device made from a joke pen that's battery powered. Week after that I'll come up with another device with more of a kick. Possibly a disposable camera if nothing else comes to mind.

How this is going to work is aside from specified times of the day for example wile at work where I am required to be professional I will not use the device. However after such time every time I see a women I wish to talk to I must approach. If I do not I take 3 shocks. If I am able to go out but stay home that is 3 shocks every hour till the event is over. Pretty simple and straight forward. I'll Add to this each week with results and side effects.

Wish me luck. And this is going to be a blast.

Day one: No noticeable difference in my motivation levels. No side effects either. The light shock as I thought before doesn't seem to be a good motivator. After day two I'll decide if to shorten the experiment with the light shocker from one week to three days. Then move onto the battery powered.

People do the same thing with rubber bands, its called aversion therapy.

For example, a person who is trying to quit smoking will wear a rubber band around his/her wrist and pull it back and snap it on their inner wrist really hard every time they think about giving in and having a cig.

I used the same technique to break free of my sugar addiction.

I've tried that technique before with nail biting. But with habits vs instincts I see there needing to be a difference. With this I'm increasing how intense/painful the shocks are each phase. I'm doing this experiment to answer a few personal questions I have such as can I be motivated by fear of pain. And what intensity does it have to be to fight an instinct we've been born with. After saying that I bet your probably thinking there are better ways to do this than inflicting myself. An to be honest I completely agree. But the point being in my search this hasn't been seen as a possible solution before so I'm going to explore it.

Interesting method, but I doubt its effectiveness. If you have read my comments on this forum you know what I think about AA. As long as the opener is either a harmless situational comment, a genuine question or something similar, you will not feel any AA. I usually say "if you have the right mindset/attitude/mentality of not expecting/wanting anything". With other words not making an effort.

But approaching usually means walking up to someone without really having a reason other than to seek validation and positive reactions. That creates AA because you have the wrong intentions, treating the girl differently than other people. If you are open and social in general, talking with everyone just because you enjoy it, there will be no difference talking to hot girls, and the AA will go away.

The instinct you were born with is to be a fucking warrior. To fuck women that you find attractive and best able to take care of a child... and impregnate them to carry on your genes incase something should happen to you through out your dangerous quests in life.

That's instinct.

When your dad fucked your mom and you were conceived... You, as a little sperm, were the first one to the egg.

You were a winner before you were even born.

It's the things that have happened to you since then that have fucked you up and made you the way you are.

Change your way of thinking. Start thinking like a champion.

Quick update the light shocker does not have any positive results. However it does have negative effects such as lack of motivation to approach and go out. I found myself just taking the shock. My AA wasn't this bad before I started.

mild shocker starts tomarrow.

Interesting experiment, it is amazing the ingenuity some guys will have in this area.

On this topic, the reverse is also true, when you do approach and get into a nice lil convo, you get crazy endorphin rushes and good feelings all over i.e. positive reinforcement.

Interesting idea. The two primary motivators for humans are pain and pleasure. Here you have both so it might help cover you bases lol
