I hear conflicting opinions on cologne as to whether you should have too much or too little. Should you only use a small amount so that there's only a hint off you or use a lot?

What's the pros and cons of either or? I usually just spray some but never know when it's too much as I get used to the scent of my cologne very quickly.

I try to stay away from it. Putting on some good deodorant IMO should be enough.

Here's what I think:

If your not close to her she shouldn't be smelling you.
when she is close to you you will probably get more compliments on how you smell.

Something that is to powerful would probably be a turn off. I know I'm turned off when a girl wears to much perfume so I'm going to assume it's the same with girls.

My advice would be the less the better

I am a big fan of cologne. I have 10 different bottles in rotation. If anything, it is a conversation piece. It can be a confidence booster and who doesn't like smelling good? Get comments ALL THE TIME on how great I always smell. One spray on each side of neck, spray on one wrist and run wrists together. Sometimes if it is a little lighter I'll put a slight spray on shirt collar but see what works for you bro.

I personally like using cologne more on the less side.

I see it like, you hug them, they get a brief whiff of a nice scent, and it disappears if they don't bridge the gap again.

Works to my favor.

Putting a cologne/perfume use a single spray on your wrist, body, neck, earlobes they work very well there because of the body producing heat and your cologne will be more effective throughout the day/night.

Don't spray it on your shirt it doesn't last that long.

It really depends on longevity and sillage (and the occasion.), but a typical rule of thumb is couple of squrits, applied 20-30 mins before you're going out and thats it. No cologne is better than a lot.

Chase wrote a good article on this. It pretty much mirrors what I've seen and explains a lot of the apparent contradictions. He's as wordy as fuck, so to summarize:

If you're not totally at ease with meeting and fucking women, and/or you don't have high testosterone, wear cologne.
If you're totally at ease, and have high testosterone, wear neither cologne, nor deodorant. Fewer women will be initially attracted to you, but the ones who are, will be much hornier.

The only area I disagree with him on, is how the jury is out on Axe. Women almost universally hate the stuff.

A good cologne can be absolute gold-dust.

I have quite a hairy chest, and hair holds the smell better than skin or clothing, so I do a couple of squirts on my chest before putting on my t-shirt/shirt, and then a couple on the neck.

Hitting the guys in the toilets for a top up on a night out is always a good idea as well.

I'm a big fan of cologne but use very little. A girl has to be whispering in my ear or hugging on me to smell it.

I may try the no scent method tonight. See how it works. It will be crowded so I can always blame the stank on someone else
