Ive always felt that having gay friends helps...ive always been really nice to gay guys i know even though I have no interest in them and sometimes ill be talking to a chick and she'll try to insult me and if ive been talking to a gay guy earlier he will just start backing me up with a whole bunch of stuff. Plus I think just as girls look to other girls' opinions about your value they will also pay some attention to how a gay guy values you.
