A new opener I came up with today, but bottled it before I could do it - but I'm definitely field testing it as soon as an opportunity comes back round.

I listen to music, but I stopped for ages because it was stopping me approaching women, it was stopping me from actually interacting with people, but I had my headphones in (the buds, not the big stupid looking ones by dr.dre or anything, just small iPhone ones), and I was sat at the bus stop next to a hb7-8, also listening to music - and she looked cool as, big hair, a bandana tied around her forehead, dressed like a celebrity at a party and i was looking for something to do, say without just gawking at her.

And then it hit me! probably too late to really try it and succeed - just get her attention point to your ear mouth the words "what are you listening to?"! and offer your ear bud to her and just share the music round! I have a real thing for hipsters and hippy girls, and so they'll probably dig the music I'm listening to anyway, but I think as long as you have a discernible music taste (i.e. anything that isn't either grandad music, or chart hits) I think you'll be fine. And boom - conversation, about music! leads to dates at gigs/nightclubs/any live music going on

I am going to try this as soon as it comes around - Anyone got any feedback? advancements? how I can make it better?

I ride the train alot and I am also conscious of listening to music since I feel like it gives me another extra excuse to not do approach.

Finally got to try it out. Worked really well, as with most openers, they never work out how you plan them too - really, starting to think they are a bit redundant, just find something to say your're comfortable with and see where it goes.

I sat in a park, she was opposite me, and after a while (after I texted, facebooked etc to make it seem like I was there on normal, lunch break business) I pointed at my ears and asked her what she was listening to, and boom conversation about music, as that simmered out she asked why I was sat in a park and boom - in a conversation about nothing and everything!

Didn't number close or anything because I didn't need to - I've noticed her loads around our town centre, so rather than add a creepy element to it, I'll let her think it over about how confident and sociable I am, and when I see her again, another fun conversation later and I'll get her number then.
