But a lot of Guru's want to teach NLP. Is this just because the placebo effect? Or is it just a marketing trick, for the ones that are desperate to pick up hb?

Few legitimate questions in pickup have simple answers. In this case, NLP can come off as a "magic bullet." It doesn't matter how you look, how you dress, your money, your height, etc. If you say the right words with the right inflection, ooooooh bitches get wet!

Obviously this isn't entirely true. Guys market it because it's something more teachable than just being confident, or escalation. It's less risky to practice talking into a mirror than approaching girls. So it appeals to the masses who enter pickup, the AFCs of the world. A very basic understanding of things like cold reading, emotional language, being descriptive, that shit can actually work. But again, you don't have to go past the chapter 1 type stuff.

So NLP IS REAL first off but it is a more advanced technique, Julien from RSD actually uses it in his videos. Just don't focus on NLP when you are beginning. I really like what DJ_Z said.

It's pseudo science for mental health therapy or clinical psychology.

However, PUAs repackaged some concepts from Classical Conditioning for pick up and attributed it to NLP. Anchoring is really just a NLP fancy term for conditioned reflexes which is very scientific and proven to work really well not only among humans but also with animals.

NLP has concepts that make use of some proven scientific memes which serve as its building blocks of knowledge. The integration though of these proven scientific memes for behavioral SPAM is a massive fail as peer reviewers noted.

For seduction, NLP routines that make use of Pavlovian Classical Conditioning work if your execution is skillful and smooth.

NLP for SPAM of schizophrenia = Fail

NLP for getting laid = Win (but there are more efficient ways to get the same results)

I think you are right

I have only used the "pace and lead" technique. I have no clue whether it has helped, or if I would get the same results without it. But wherever I go nowadays, people seem to like me (and I'm pacing naturally without even thinking, since that's what people in general do). If done right it is a no brainer that it will make people feel more comfortable around you. I know from my own reactions when I meet people that behave very differently compared to me (thus not pacing) - I don't like them as much.

So, to sum it up. From my little experience I think NLP works. But I have only tried a single technique, so don't take my word for it.
