Hey, I've been surfing language exchange sites recently to hone my online game and set up meetings to improve my game outside the internet.

Being new to online pickup, I've received so many cold shoulders. This is very discouraging, especially after having experienced the sweet fruits of good old pickup outside the net. I've used the standard opener, and tried to convey a playful vibe without being too tryhard. However, to no avail.

To give a better picture of things, here is a typical message I would send to a woman who has interests in "not only language exchange, but cultural exchange" and gets very enthusiastic about listing her hobbies in the profile, indicating that language exchange was probably an excuse to know more people:

"Hey [TARGET], I came across your profile and knew that if I don't message you I would be furious with myself!

I'm [ONLINE NAME], but you can call me [REAL NAME]! Alright, I admit that was really lame.

In any case, I am looking for help in [LANGUAGE I WANT] and of course any form of cultural exchange you may be offering! I see that you are an fairly good [LANGUAGE TARGET WANTS] speaker, and I'm confident of taking it to a higher level if you wish. How high? Well, imagine reduction of even your accent in spoken form!

If that is not your main purpose (I'm starting to doubt that it is!) we could always hang out and see how things go from there. You know my hobbies and I know yours, I want to know how things work out. I won't say no to trying new things out either!

Any flaws, to this set up? I constantly get cold shoulders with this, and hope to fix any kinks to my game if possible thanks!
