Alright, so as I've stated previously, I'm currently in a remote location of the world and can't go out sarging. I have a few openers in mind that I want to try out when I get back home, but what I'm wondering is if I were to approach a group of girls, how can I identify which one is single? The one giving me IOIs? Should I wait for an IOI? I realize I could simply ask, but I have heard that if you ask, sometimes women will just say they're taken if they're shy.

If you're opening the set under false pretenses (not direct like "you're cute; give me your number."), then open the less hot one. She is approached less often compared to the hot one, and the hot one will get jealous that the attention isn't on her like she is used to. This is from The Game and that's like eight years old.
In my game, I just guess and go for the one I like better, but I may have different goals than some other people.

Yeah, I guess I could just attempt to isolate the one I like after opening the group. I'm just trying to figure out how to transition from "Hey, you guys blah blah blah?" to snatching the one I like away from them.

Look for the one who looks around the venue the most and is only half listening to her friends conversations; She's scanning to check out which guys are there.

You're not really going to get anywhere if you individually ask all the girls in a set whether they have a boyfriend; you would look incredibly needy.

I'm guessing the op wants to elicit whose single in the group as a time management strategy.

Plus: The "I have a boyfriend" response is a pain in the ass as it is without bringing it up yourself.

Exactly.

Chances are, 2 of 3 girls (in a 3 set) will be pretty cute and the third will be just whatever. So, originally, I was wondering if there were any tell-tale signs of a chick being single. Your first post sounds pretty decent.
