My girlfriend was having chit chat with her girlfriend and a song came up on the radio that was about sex. She started talking about how this song was meant for her, how she wants to meet the singer and even looked up information on how to meet the guy (she even looked up personal information on the guys) . I was in the next room, but I didn't really feel comfortable with the way she was talking. She even said at one point "check if he's single!".


Now, it's my insecurity...i know. I just want to know how to handle the situation the next time. I rationalized that it was girl talk so it was better than her talking about a celeb rather than a guy at work or school, etc.

It might not be my insecurity...it might be just a cultural thing. My family is of Mexican descent and the men are seen as the breadwinners and the macho men that they are. When she said that, I just felt disrespected is all, especially since there was another person there. I'll work on it. Firstly know that it is completely normal to feel this. One thing you can do is make stories of how you met a celebrity yourself. Don't lower yourself by saying, "oh i love this actress" and doing what your girl does, but just say something like, "oh you'd never guess what, i met X" (celebrity name - can be male or female), say how you two got along really well. Say how that person said to you that you were the first person to talk to him/her and not ask for an autograph. It shows that you are kinda on their level slightly! I believe there is always something you can do (if you lie lol).

The reason i say this, is coz I work in a 5 star hotel and i do meet celebrities. telling this to women is an instant dhv i've realised. it makes me look so important, when in truth it's not that amazing. They are normal humans like the rest of us...

I mean why not make yourself a celebrity? You may not BE one but just the way I do it by talking about my work, i can come across as at least being in a celebrity social group, even though i just work there...

I think one of the best way to deal with "suddenly running out of conversation" is to leave on a high note (at least temporally). Excuse yourself to the bathroom or to a phone call. Stay away for 10- 20 minutes then come back... that action alone will leave her wanting more. However, DO NOT wait until the conversation is dead to leave. Do it at a 'high point" of the conversation... so basically, you have to anticipate the that the conversation is running dry.
