I happen to be someone the collects Rolexes. Real ones :)
I'm a humble guy that just likes the science of horology and appreciates a great timepiece. Never ever bought them to appear flash or actually care what others think.

However, in game is it a plus, or a hindrance to show objects of apparent wealth (i.e. watches, jewellery, cars etc)

Whatever you have genuine passion for is a plus.

Most guys who show off expensive shit do it to compensate for something, and they don't actually have a genuine interest or passion about whatever they're showing off. So, most of the guys showing off rolexes won't even know what the hell "horology" is.

You're different, so it shouldn't be too hard to differentiate yourself from the compensators.

Agreed.
Tend to wear a fashion watch ie Gucci in order to not cloud the issue.

But, damn it, with a well cut blazer, one of my rolexes at the end of my arm, looks the dogs bollocks.
Wore one last year and the odd girl kept on asking me to buy them a drink, which is a 'No-No' for us gamers. Sick of that crap.

Firstly:-
1. How do i handle the 'Buying a girl a drink situation'
2. Def not a compensator. Approaching average, inner game is tight.
How could i use my interest to my advantage, rather than disadvantage?
(surely wearing a nice timepiece should be an asset)
