Is there an easy and effective way one can remove a limiting belief without the help of a therapist/counselor? A nice 12 step process or self curing method? I think I can explore my own mind but if anyone knows of one that would be most helpful.

All those tactics are fine and dandy man. The best way to do it is find who you really are and explore it. Strip yourself from your ego and your mind will follow. Dont regret any choices you make. You can look back on them for a learning experience but dont let it define you.
There is a very helpful thread on here that I found to be good. Its called: the Centermans Project. The Mack is the author of that thread. Check him out

You might have heard of this before but in case you haven't

Mindful Meditation - with practice, it makes you aware of all your thoughts and you can start labeling them, giving you more energy and curiosity to look into them. Its awesome!

Try the Sedona Methode

Ask your self
1) What feeling are you feeling now?
2) Could you welcome/allow feeling?
3) Could you let feeling go?
4) Would you let it go?
5) When would you let it go?
Repeat
