Your whole argument is based on that sentence right there.

positive affirmations cause positive thoughts.

Sorry but no, thats not the case for low self esteem people. Again, numerous studies have shown your setence not to be true. Asking a group of low self esteem people to say affirmations and then record how they feel after (they feel worse) was one of the most basic things done in many of the studies. This right there shows that you are wrong. In my own personal experience dealing with many low self esteem clients who tried affirmations, you are wrong. They felt worse after.

Also, you don't seem to realize how the brain works.

"You make decisions BEFORE you are consciously aware of them, so by the time you tell yourself, "self, you are a bad-ass motherfucker," your brain/body has already made a decision on whether or not that is true... and your words will never change it.

Fishing in the stream of consciousness, researchers now can detect our intentions and predict our choices before we are aware of them ourselves. The brain, they have found, appears to make up its mind 10 seconds before we become conscious of a decision -- an eternity at the speed of thought.
"

You read about the entire study here: http://seanmessenger.blogspot.com/2009/ ... lshit.html

So you can "know in your fucking bones" all you want but your bones are neither scientific or right.

Affirmations cause positive thoughts in everyone. That's true.

If you have a fear affirmations will get you over it. I can take any newbie and turn them into a fucking tiger.

You need to change . You believe too much bull shit science. You can't say what the affirmations were. You can't say what the affirmations were trying to accomplish. You can't tell me anything about the people that said the affirmations. You can't tell me how they said the affirmations. Those are huge holes in your science Mr. Open-mind.

Affirmations work best:

1.) they come by surprise.
2.) they are short and sweet
3.) they are said intensely
4.) they are dramatic
5.) the listener is in a relaxed or open state.

Affirmations are almost hypnotic when said right

Wrong.

I already know you ignored the first study I gave you, did you look at the last one I linked to in my last post? You have already implied that your are smarter than psychologist with Ph.D's and now you are implying that your are smarter than Neuroscientist? Damn ROTD, you must be the smartest man on the planet.

And you believe in the self help community way to much. The studies I have linked you too were conduced by both psychologist and neuroscientist, two groups of people that have to go to universities for several years to get their credentials. Anyone, ANYONE, can become a "self help guru" who preaches about how amazing affirmations work. The self help industry is filled with nut jobs who use Pseudoscience, faulty logic, placebos, and all out bull shit to get people hooked on their advice. Does the self help industry teach some good things? Yes but you have to wade through a sea of BS to find the few helpful nuggets.

I linked you to the studies, feel free to read up on them yourself.

The truth is there, if you chose to stick your head in the sand and ignore it thats fine.

I said on this point I am right and those studies are wrong. That is all. You need to accept scientist are wrong. You need to accept that. Only a jackass trusts someone just because they say so.

Affirmations cause positive thoughts in everyone. Absolute truth!

My head is not in the sand. I been in the trenches helping people.

And I don't believe in the self-help community I believe in myself.

Now go try affirmations or just shut up.

Affirmations change how you feel and your feelings change you

Well, I can't trust you because that would make me a jackass. ;)

So the Psychologist and Neuroscientist are wrong and yet you are right? To believe you are right would be accepting that you are more intelligent than two groups of people with years and years of study, knowledge, experience, and multiple degrees behind them. They have all of that... what do you have?

Lets define "Absolute Truth" : An absolute truth is an unalterable and permanent fact.

For your statement to be an absolute truth it would have to mean that no one has EVER said an affirmation and then had a negative thought as a result of said affirmation. Lets forget the numerous studies that prove you wrong for a minute and get a bit more personal.

I just said to out loud to myself the affirmation: "I will be the smartest person in the world."

I consider myself to be an extremely bright individual, however, the first thought that popped into my head upon the completion of said affirmation was "no you wont." It would be delusional of me to think that out of 6 billion people I will one day become the smartest of them all.

Okay, okay, I'm sure that is just a fluke. Lets try again.

"I will beat Anderson Silva in a MMA fight."

Damn! ROTD... this isn't working! Again my thoughts were "LOL, you wish!"

Seeing as how I had not only one but two negative thoughts as a result of the affirmations that would conclude that affirmations always working is NOT an "absolute truth."

You neither gave me a reason or talked sense. All you did was ignore the mountain of evidence I gave you against affirmation and simply repeated "affirmations work. I am right and the scientist are wrong. Trust me."

Wow... poor loser much?

Dude your thought is wrong, pick up the pieces, learn something and use it in the future...

You're currently arguing with two people you deem to be narrow minded because they have actually studied and read about this shit... yet we're close minded? Righhhhhhttt....

Are you going to keep making yourself appear as an idiot? Go on big guy, keep making yourself look bad. While thinking you're are more right than people who know what the fuck they are talking about.

Peace and Love,

Vic

I am trolling because I don't won't agree with you? You looking real selfish homie.

I challenge you and be honest with yourself. Find a fear or insecurity of yours and then use an affirmation to face it. Maybe it's a fear of telling your dad something. Who knows, use an affirmation to overcome it.

Final warning before banning. You're trolling because there is no other way you could be this close minded, look at what you've said and tell me how there is any other way you could say those things? Or are you simply that boldly arrogant? So uneducated that you are indeed an embarrassment to this forum.

You've been shown evidence to prove the contrary, I've brought in a point you some how missed(action required).

Don't worry about me or my insecurities you seem to have enough of your own issues that are in need of remedy.

Peace and Love,

vic

I use affirmations and they make me feel good, but I am supposed to listen to researchers that say affirmations don't work?

I use affirmations on others and they make them feel good, but I am supposed to listen to researchers that say they don't work?

The repetition of affirmations lead to belief.

Powerful affirmations cause emotional change.

This is all true.

Affirmations will help you get laid because they will make you a bold, aggressive, risk taker. I visualize myself fucking the living snot out of every woman I approach like a mad man while they whine my name like a squelling pig in heat. It works everytime. I approach these bitches like Kobe going to the rack in the 4th quarter. I see nothing but net, I see nothing but open vagina walking around me everyday just begging for some of my dick. I am the greatest Pua of All time, I really beleive that.
