Good afternoon.

Personally I would advise emotional restraint here as much as possible. If you feel that you are unable to keep your emotions in check I would suggest considering replacing her as swiftly as possible. However I hasten to add that she has not done anything wrong per se. Rather it is unwise to become too emotinally attached to people who have deep rooted issues.

I have had a rather dreadful experience involving a girl with depression a few years ago, it is something I would avoid at all costs these days.

Hasn't gone crazy on me or anything and I really want to help her and be there for her.
You may have the best of intentions, but this mindset rarely works out well with women in my experience. If she comes to you ASKING for help, then yeah by all means be there for her...but trying to "fix" her won't end well for you.

Thanks for the responses. I ended it on Thursday and I'm bummed but I think it's for the best. When I asked her if she had history with him, she tried to lie and kept insisting they were just friends. When I finally got her to admit it, she tried to lie about when it happened. I finally got most of the truth out of her and she insisted that she only sees him as a friend and owned up to her mistake and for lying. I do believe that she sees him only as a friend but I told her she was naive if she thinks he feels the same way.

Anyways, I told her that I knew it wasn't cheating but it was disrespectful to me as a human being for asking me to give him a ride home that night and disrespectful to me as a boyfriend for having me do it again a couple weeks ago. But the main reason was that she can't seem to stay single and seems to thrive from attention and validation from men. I straight up told her i didnt want to risk falling in love with her and then get even more hurt. She cried and begged for me to give her another chance and that she has her issues to work on and I have my trust issues to work on and that I shouldn't give up so easily. She offered to quit drinking when I told her I couldn't trust her when she's drunk but I told her she would just end up resenting me after awhile. She said she wouldn't and that it was a choice she was willing to make.

I do feel like I broke up preemptively and I'm sad but I feel like its the right choice. She's now seen my biggest fear and insecurity and I'm sure that's not a good thing even though I owned up to them and came from a somewhat strong frame.

Good on you, made the right choice. The fact she first lied when you asked about the history between them shows that if anything did ever happen (she gets drunk and finds a guy who takes that to his advantage), she probably wouldn't tell you either...
21 man, a lot of experiences to be made!

Good for you OP, you definitely made the right decision. You saved yourself a lot of headache and emotional bs.
