I'm a 57-year-old man who has never had sex. (I'd put a sad "smilie" here, but clicking that icon does not seem to do anything, which strikes me as a possible programming error.) After 9 months of homelessness (which has fortunately come to an end, since the homeless shelter would not even allow us to have innocent conversations with women who were staying there), I am feeling the need to end the days of my virginity, even to the point that I have contemplated visiting a legal brothel like the Bunny Ranch (seen in the HBO Special Cathouse).

But sex with a brothel babe can be expensive, and even though I am no longer homeless, I still am not rich. My sole income (which I get because I am now somewhat handicapped as the result of several ministrokes) is SSI payments from the US government. I'm working with a case manager in an effort to get back into the workforce. (I may be physically handicapped, but I'm mentally as sharp as I ever was.)

As a Christian, I always abstained from premarital sex, which I viewed as sin. But for crying out loud, even Jesus only had to go without sex for his 33 years on earth, not for 57 years. And I'm tired of the sexual paranoia that I've seen amongst many of my fellow believers. Without sex, there would be no church and no culture. If I had sex, even outside of the bonds of matrimony, I believe that God would and could forgive me.

Pickup artists seldom look for potential bedroom buddies at churches, but I am not a drinker (partly because my father was an alcoholic when he died in 1999). I spend a lot of time in local coffeehouses with WiFi access, like the Barnes and Noble bookstore where I am typing this. I just bought a book entitled The Art of War for Dating, by Eric Rogell. The back of the book says that it "teaches you how to get laid". Not having read it yet, I don't know whether or not it will help me, but I figured that in addition to reading that book, I'd join this forum and solicit opinions and advice.
