The problem with these sites are that women find themselves far more attractive than what some men might find them. Not to mention some women aren't looking for anything but just want the ego-boost. A bartender I know is married but made an OkCupid profile for the sole purpose of getting attention. She doesn't even read her messages, she just wanted to know if she would get attention, and I know that's not everyone but they're out there.
I tried Match and I didn't find anyone near my area. I tried to cancel it and they gave me the whole, "well, you'll have to call again in 6 months because we're giving you a free 6 months" or something. They were probably hoping I would forget so it would charge my card.
The few real people I did find barely logged on and I never saw anything from that.
Plenty of Fish - I tend to avoid this one anymore. I don't know how everyone else's area is, but for some reason on PoF around here, it's nothing but overweight women and single mothers. The amount of single mothers on here is astounding. I get a lot of messages from fat women like "hey "hi" "sup sexy" "omg ur funny I loved ur profile"
OkCupid - This is the worst one I've ever experienced in my opinion. There's far less women on here than there are on PlentyofFish and men know it. Girls on here get bombarded on a daily basis and as I said, they feel that they're far more attractive than what they really are, and their expectations go way up.
I've had a couple of meetups and I'm pretty sure one was just a whore on a conquest for sex, so thank God I wrapped up there. The majority of my experience is flakes and no response though. I know I don't have the best looks or pictures but it's still an option for people like me from a small town.
If you can avoid online dating.. I would but it's a nice extra option to have. A lot of others will say it's a numbers game and it kind of is.
Remember, women on the internet are "brave" compared to real life. I rarely have seen instances of women going off on men in person, even drunk. Usually they just give the "Oh I have a bf" routine or try to test your persistence. Online, they'll be more than happy to say things like "fuck off pig" "go to hell" or other nice welcoming words. Maybe some women get a kick out of rejecting guys online, I don't know.
It's a crap shoot and a numbers game as far as I'm concerned. Now, obviously if you're Matt Bomer, your pretty much going to be drowning in messages but that's not my case.
