NLP isn't BS, I use it on a regular basis in a sales capacity at work! Although in my experience using it whilst sarging can be counterproductive! The main aim for NLP is about building rapport with people and I've found that doing that gives off too many IOI's to the target and that can straight up kill your game! It doesn't allow you to comply with cat string theory so if anything intend to use NLP in my day 2 or past that point!
One key thing to remember is that not everybody is susceptible to NLP and it usually comes from the fact you haven't built up enough rapport!
It's a very helpful life skill but like I said: not necessarily a good tool for sarging!
Feel free to disagree after all we have our own experiences! I've had good and bad experiences with NLP...

I use it for sales too... It also works a bit if the girl is already into you.

In NLP: Magic or Myth author, Marcus Tye (Ph.D), draws a comparison between shamanism and NLP, describing what he terms a "psycho shaman effect". Specifically it has three components: cognitive dissonance, placebo effect and therapist charisma". Tye goes on to explain that often when an NLP practitioner thinks his use of NLP is working its often due to placebo and/or the practitioners charisma.

Skills, you said that if the chick is into you, NLP works. I suggest it could it be that its really just your charisma doing the work and not the NLP.

Its much like how a guy can approach a woman, use a mystery method routine, and then take the girl home. Im sure you will agree with me skills that its much more likely that she went home with him because she already liked him and because of his charisma, not because of the routine.

It's kinda like hypnosis, with fun anchors and shit...

"Come with me towards a new direction ('nude erection') *point to testicles and cock* of HapPENIS. We can journey past the sapPENIS *point to her tits* of life as we know it. In no such way do you find my words at all to be full of creePENIS. *make a blowjob motion with your mouth*"

Hehe. I wouldn't advise anybody to use my goofy routine. I'm just making fun of NLP a bit. Some of it is helpful with word play and conversation, but I do agree 90% of it is probably bullshit. I used to study the shit out of it, but then I realized that a lot of the words got all jumbled and I got confused which routine to use. I agree that some of the language is useful in sales too. I wouldn't go around pointing to your genitalia and making BJ motions to customer though! Haha.

^ yea! i should not have use the word works, more like helps... And i do not even know if is nlp, but this is how i use it:

Lets say i am selling, i would say,(no deal has not sign or anything)....

"When you get your payment lower by me, you will be able to use that money for__________"

And this one too:

"The only thing you will be saying is i am cumming i am cumming" "i will make you squirt"

^ that is the extend of my nlp, but i don't know if is even nlp... In other words i project future events with me involved and assuming it will happened...

But it may just be cold reading.

NLP is morally bankrupt. However if you are grotesquely ugly, I can see why you would resort to such desperate measures.

Check out "The Door Pattern" for all you manipulative woman-hating sadistic control freaks out there:

That pattern is mental masturbation. NLP does not work.

well the fahter of the pua movement ross jeffries bases his method on nlp and hypnosis. I;m sure the effects of nlp are exaggerated but i think it has its place and deserves some respect.

To me nlp means to basically use words and gestures to evoke feelings in someone or put ideas in their head. That I feel is very possible.

NLP = Emperor's New Clothes syndrome. You believe it works, so it gives you more confidence and therefore more success. Everybody else knows it's BS. Ross Jeffries himself calls it hypnotism.

It's not referred to as "pseudo-science" by real scientists for no reason. NLP is about as scientific as Scientology.

Darren Brown does NOT use NLP. Darren Brown is a magician and wants you to think he uses NLP. That's called misdirection. As long as you think what hes doing is NLP then you wont see how he really does that stuff. Don't believe me? I'll let Darren tell you...

"I have never claimed to use NLP to achieve my ‘tricks’. On the contrary, I have written very critically about it in Tricks of the Mind. I reserve the same scepticism for subliminal messaging, as well as a lot of body-language reading and the like." - Darren Brown
Source: http://derrenbrown.co.uk/claim-claim-2/

Furthermore, here is a great article that debunks one of his "NLP tricks." http://www.skepticink.com/notung/2012/1 ... ren-brown/

I asked someone to show me a scientific study that supports the claims of NLP. What you showed me was a stage magician... hardly evidence and certainly not scientific. Using your method of providing evidence I guess I can show you a bunch of stage acts where a women gets cut in half and say "see... its possible to get cut in half and be put back together again without surgery!"
Hey, cool down a little bit. I have never claimed my post contained any kind of scientific evidence. It was only a clarification about what NLP means, since someone asked.

Maybe I have misunderstood what NLP is. But what category of psychology does "hidden commands" fall under? Isn't that NLP? Because Derren does DEFINITIVELY use hidden commands! For instance, in the clip with the BMX, Derren talks about things the guy can wish for his birthday, and goes something like...

"...a BM..."

Here you assume the last letter should be W, the brand of the car. But instead, Derren continues:

"X-Box!"

And the hidden word is "BMX". The same goes when he jokes around with people in a subway, and makes them forget the name of the next stop.

"The name of the next stop. Think about it"

The hidden command here is "stop think about it".

It all comes down to your delivery.
Personally, I find NLP useless unless it is used on myself as a self-hypnosis tool.
Using it on other people never worked. And if it did, it all depends on how you deliver the words, not on some magical NLP bullshit that doesn't even work.

NLP in pickup, until now, is 0% successful. People want money, and in order to sell their product, they need to intrigue them with something interesting and that is why they sell NLP books. It all funnels to the money made from selling such useless stuff.

But that's just my opinion.

This discussion is silly because it seems that nobody here knows a bit about NLP.

NLP is about using best practices, is not about techniques is about learning how to model the techniques used by people who is already successful. If the techniques tend to be BS and do not work for you NLP encourage the user to change the technique and look for and model something that works.

Here it seems that you all are discussing exclusively about Language Patterns. In terms of language patterns NLP suggests you to look for someone that you find a persuasive talker and try to model the way he/she talks. Then it gives some examples of language patterns took out from people who the authors found persuasive in the late 70s when they came up with this NLP thing.
Is there any scientific study which proofs that these 30 years old patterns still have some influence in people nowadays?--- the answer is NO.
Is there a possibility that they worked back then and still work now? --- probably to certain extend and in certain scenarios.

The thing is that many of the techniques suggested by NLP that are scientifically proven, are not named and will never be named as NLP, but as cognitive behavioral therapy, emdr, neuroscience, Ekman's micro-expressions, cognitive science, etc.

Science is a type of knowledge that is objective and reliable.
NLP are just a few axioms that simplify the way to acquire subjective useful knowledge.
Science is in charge to extract all the variables and find all the correlations between a certain behavior and its results.
NLP just tells you: "do you like the results that someone is getting?, then model its behavior. Aren't you getting the results you want?, then change your behavior"

Is that BS?
In my opinion it isn't.

Lol. So you're saying people who don't use NLP just keep making the same mistakes over and over again until Captain Obvious (NLP) arrives to save the day by saying "if it doesn't work, do something else". - Genius!!!

I think you've been hypnotized by your own bullshit.

You seen Darren Brown (a magician) on TV use "hidden embedded commands" to make a person forget what he wrote down and make him want a BMX. This obviously proves embedded commands works.

The other day on TV I seen a magician saw a woman in half and put her back together again. This obviously proves that magicians can saw a person completely in half and then put them back together again without surgery.

Same logic you're using.

Darren Brown likes to make his audience think he uses NLP. Thats called misdirection. Darren himself has said on his website and in his books that he believes NLP is bullshit and does not use it to get the results he gets in his tricks. He'll use it as misdirection but thats not what gets him the results. I provided a link that shows a pretty good explanation of how that BMX trick was done. In addition to the first link here is another link to a website made by a magician that exposes many tricks from many other magicians. http://magic.secrets-explained.com/derr ... n/bmx-bike

Both guys come to the same conclusion.

In addition, there is a show called "Penn and Teller - Fool Us" where a guy does pretty much the exact same trick and says he did it using NLP. Penn called him out on it saying NLP is bullshit and the guy admits that NLP was just the cover for how he really did it. Again, misdirection!

What I'm trying to talk about are legitimate scientific studies that supports NLP. However, not only has anyone not yet been able to produce a single study, people are trying to use magicians to prove NLP works.

Glad we agree.
