Though I've been lurking here for a bit, this is my first real post.

So I'm running in to a problem picking up on online dating sites from girls with little to nothing in their online profile. I've tried a few admittedly lame jokes, (hiding from the mob/fbi/government, you describe yourself so well, do you have trouble writing etc) and have about a 0% success rate.

I decided to be a little more direct with one and got a response, but it got ahead of me pretty fast:
Me: "Ok I'll bite. What brings you to (dating site) if you aren't going to fill out a profile?"
Her: Why does that matter to you?
Me: Well, it makes me curious, what made you decide to do that?
(the following all came rapid fire in the span of 30 seconds or so)
Her: Why is that your problem?
Her: Why do I need to give you a list of reasons for the things that I did?
Her: You don't have better shit to do?
Her: Annoying.
Her: Block
Me: ok then, good luck with that.

So how can I play this angle differently next time to better my odds? It's obvious that not filling out a profile is kind of a sh!t test, how can I pass it?

Your opener sucked but you are also approaching online dating the wrong way. Focus on PROFILE, not openers. With a good profile, way more openers work. Do not insult/neg/etc. unless you are obviously being funny etc. Your opener is not funny, it is boring and mildy insulting. If you are going to play on the empty profile (which I do a lot actually) I go with: "Hey nice profile, but why so long? "

In my experience girls who have very little posted on their profiles on dating sites tend to fall into 2 categories;

1) Girls who set up a profile in order to browse, but did just the bare minimum

2) Girls who have a bit of trouble working out what to say

Neither type is particularly easy to get much from, though the latter is a bit easier to work with than the former.

I've had some success with sending messages where I just guess what it is that girls do/like/want. More often than not I guess that they are lion tamers, and set them up with things that are easy to respond to/distinctive.

Haha. You have to be in the right mind set at the right time to deal with someone like that. Or you would have to quickly adapt. I feel that if I was too focused, she would have done me the same. however if I was in a bad mood or didnt give a fk mood, that would have been a fun convo.
