Went down to Union Square, sat and read the paper. Saw 2 young HB9s wearing matching clothes and staggering a little, I thought they were drunk but then it looked like they were just goofing around with each other. They stood in the middle of the square taking photos of themselves. I saw the chance and pounced. I walked over and offered to help them take a picture, but one of them said "No, we're okay, thanks." I didn't quite know what to say to that, so I just said 'okay' and walked on.
I have to say, i felt good about this rather than resenting any rejection, I felt more of a buzz from having attempted to open a challenging set.
So I bounced into the mall, and got stopped by a hired gun HB9 kiosk sales girl trying to sell heatable products that you can put in the microwave and strap to yourself to treat muscular injuries. I happen to need such a thing on doctor's orders, so I stopped and allowed her to work a bit of sales patter on me. I started negging about the products, allowed her to get kino by placing the thing on my neck and she started rubbing my shoulders. I complimented her on how good it felt, pretending to fall asleep standing up. I try another on on my lower back (the one I need) and let her strap it to my back under my sweater, reassuring her that I have a T shirt on under it.
With the thing on my back I just stood leaning on the table and chatted away with no intention of taking the thing off my back, and she didn't seem to mind carrying on the convo. I asked if there was a story behind her necklace, that got a long convo going about elephants that she has a thing about. I turned the conversation to personal stuff, where she was from, where I was from, where she lives, where I live, how long she has been in the country, etc. I indicated an interest in buying a pack for my lower back. Some girl came along looking to buy something, so HB9 diverts her attention to her. I just fiddle with some products, then start reading the paper again.
The girl makes her purchase and leaves, we resume conversation with me saying "now where was I before I was so rudely interrupted?"
Chat for what must be another five or ten minutes including me making the purchase. I was just about to ask for her number when she asked for mine so that we could hang out. I get her # into my phone and she takes mine on a sheet of paper. I could lean on any number of solid surfaces but I ask if I can lean on her back, and she agrees. I lean on her back with my arm comfortable resting on her, and I swear I got a little hard here! I joked about how she had to guess my number by feeling what I'm writing, and she related about how her family used to play a game like that.
She also gave me a bit of sales patter for a special offer on some other products, but was apologetic for it and assured me that she wasn't trying to talk me into spending more. I stuck to my guns and just bought the thing I needed.
I give her a big hug, ask for the French 'kiss on each cheek' custom which she agreed to, and she asked for assurance that I'd call her. She lives in the same city where I work, so we agreed that the next time she gets a day off we'll hang out for lunch.
I went up to the seating area and sat down in an armchair. Got talking to an older couple about a movie they were talking about.
Later went for a little walk, went by another kiosk where a little Israeli girl works, I had sarged her before and wouldn't have minded stopping for a chat, but she was busy serving people.
Called it a day and headed home.
Review: Tons of IOI here from HB9. I swear these hired gun sales girls are low-hanging fruit. As long as you intend to buy their stuff in the first place, there's nothing to lose. I'm gonna allow a standard 48 hour time bridge before calling.
