Everyone is a follower -The loophole you can use to hack success

I want to talk about how “perceived superiority/inferiority” effects the way you behave in certain situations and how you can exploit this little loophole in human nature & use it to your advantage.


fact: wanting something from somebody makes you a horrible sales person.

sound counter-intuitive? yeah, I know… It took me a while to wrap my brain around it too, but let me explain:

wanting something from somebody puts a person on a pedestal where THEY are leading you because your trying to get value from them.

this is something you might have experienced in a mall or car dealership, they push and push & its a complete turn off because it feels desperate and pathetic.

but lets take a step back and look at this dynamic in a much more broad view.

what do, the hottest girl you’ve ever seen, a big sale, meeting somebody important, getting a job interview, and asking for a promotion all have in common?

all these things make you feel inferior.

they put you into a neurotic head-space where you feel like you need permission because you feel unworthy.

this is the beta head-space or the follower head-space, where rather than acting on what you want decisively, your pushed back into this la la land of uncertainty & iffy-ness, your body language becomes up tight, you can’t think of witty things to say, your voice gets low so you mumble, your overall presence diminishes in this state.

this is where you become small because your going for something that’s slightly out of league, but this is a GOOD THING, because only an ambitious person will know what this is like, only a person who puts themselves out there will understand this feeling.

but its something we need to control if we want the type of success we’re really capable of.

Inferiority and Superiority are both illusions

value is completely and utterly subjective, whats good to one person is bad to another, what one person thinks is great, the other thinks is horrible, there is no good or bad, the hot girl is not really out of your league, its all in your head.

but here’s the crazy part… everyone is a follower.

everyone does this to themselves, everyone plays this game of inferiority and superiority, pushing themselves into their head & following the crowd, or whoever’s the leader at the moment, but now that your aware of it, you can be in control of it just by taking the lead & being the decisive one so nobody else has to.

so now that that’s out of the way, why not just go for it? why not just approach the sale like their your best friend? why not talk to the girl & see what she’s like? when your outside of the beta heads-pace everything is EASY. everyone is a follower so deliberately being the person who steps up to exploit this gives you a huge advantage, why not use it?
