| It will take a long time to be able to run a set properly. You should be approaching sets regularly for over a year. It's like shooting hoops in basketball. You need practice for your percentage to go up. Focus on your fundamentals and techniques- particularly body language and your voice. Read the Mystery Method carefully, and take notes.
I am pretty much a newbie as well. I have been learning pick up for about 8 months, but have only seriously been approaching the last 2 months. I have already had decent success though.
Get a strategy, and set goals.
My first goal was to approach 50 women all year, I made it my new years resolution. My approach anxiety was terrible, so I thought this would be challenging. I am now often doing 30-50 sets on a weekend. That's more like 150 girls every weekend!
You have to push yourself. Don't be afraid to fuck up. You are developing a long term skill.
When Michael Jordan first started learning basketball, he missed a lot of his shots, probably threw up a bunch of airballs too, and more than likely had a few embarassing plays during games. He dealt with failure, and that's why he was successful.
A few nights ago, a couple minutes into a set, the girl told me after I was sort of an ass hole, "you need to fucking leave." About the equivalent of MJ throwing up an airball from 20 feet.
Don't let anything bother you too much, you are learning this skill for YOU, not to impress women. You will probably fail a lot in the beginning, but if you keep working at it, your percentage will improve.
